The best moments of LCD Soundsystem’s early reunion at Webster Hall
LCD Soundsystem played together for the first time in five years over Easter Weekend. Reuniting at Webster Hall, just a few blocks from where the band hung it up at Madison Square Garden in April 2011, James Murphy and company played a rotation of LCD’s biggest hits to a warm, packed crowd of lottery ticket winners. The marquee outside Webster Hall read “Test In Progress – Please Stand By,” setting the long-awaited assembly off with a slice of Murphy’s tongue-in-cheek charm ahead of headlining performances at Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Panorama Festival. Opting not to debut any new material, LCD acknowledged the strange familiarity of being back on stage together, celebrating with their catalogue’s most important highlights.

The setlist included classics like “Daft Punk Is Playing At My House,” “Losing My Edge” and “Someone Great,” along with a brass section-assisted “Freak Out.” The evening concluded with a raucous encore of “Dance Yrself Clean” and “All My Friends,” as the group is now officially Back From The Dead. LCD Soundsystem is playing again this evening at Webster Hall, ending a special two-night run of probably the most intimate shows they will play all year – just before setting their comeback into motion at Coachella from April 15-17.
