Microsoft introduces new music-centric website, ‘Music x Technology’

Microsoft’s history with electronic music is one worth unearthing. Three years ago, the technology company launched OneBeat Labs alongside OneBeat — a move that helped connect the brand to the dance music movement. One month later, the pair moved on to unveil the first-ever EDM app on Xbox 360.

It wasn’t until last summer, however, that it became clear just how much Microsoft keeps their finger on the pulse when they enlisted Odesza’s “Say My Name” for their Windows 10 commercial.

Now, Microsoft has officially introduced a new website entitled Music x Technology, a one-stop shop for all things music and artistry. The platform teaches visitors about the musicians who employ Microsoft technology in their day-to-day agendas, such as ATTLAS, Matthew Dear, Neon Indian, Phantogram, and many more. ATTLAS’ latest offering “Aspen,” for example, was produced using a Microsoft Surface tablet.

“It’s the merging of studio and performance that is the most exciting frontier,” ATTLAS says. “When you get things like Surface where you can merge these two worlds of studio and performance and turn them into this new hybrid, the benefit is for the performer, the benefit is for the listener, and it only helps music.”
