Rezz Releases Debut Album Mass Manipulation

The hot, rising star of the mau5trap set – Billboard

Isabelle Rezazadeh, the mysterious artist behind the REZZ moniker, today offers up her hotly awaited debut album Mass Manipulation via the mau5rap imprint.

“‘Mass Manipulation’ is a commentary on how easily our minds can become manipulated by the things we consume in society. We consume heavily through the media, which, in turn, tries to curate our thoughts and dictate how we as humans are supposed to live and behave. This album plays off this idea and invites people to become hypnotized, allowing their brains to be manipulated by my music in the hope they might see things through a new perspective (perhaps an outer world viewpoint). One where everyone is free from the unrealistic expectations planet earth has drawn for them. A world of acceptance and hypnosis. @_@”

A study in hypnosis, influence and the mesmeric nature of music experience, this opus is an astonishing first offering from someone who only opened Ableton three years ago.  In that short time, she has already garnered considerable support from the likes of Billboard, Mixmag and Dancing Astronaut (who named her their ‘Breakout Artist of 2016’), and has played coveted slots at festivals including Ultra, EDC and Bonnaroo. With a sound that has been likened to French superstars Gesaffelstein and Justice, REZZ has broken through the underground, landing with both feet firmly on the international stage.

Having spent years studying psychology and music production at home in Niagara Falls, ‘Mass Manipulation’ is the product of many happy accidents. Through experimenting with heavy bass samples and unusual melodies, and collaborating with emergent producers 13, Knodis and Kotek, REZZ found she had eight powerful tracks she wanted to share.

The eerie speech at the start of ‘Relax’ seduces the listener into an intensely sinister but altogether alluring state of inertia as we prepare to enter this truly mind-altering body of work. With the powerful kicks of ‘Diluted Brains’, the menacing, bass-driven ‘Premonition’, and the exotic flourishes in ‘Drugs!’, REZZ infiltrates the minds of her listeners.

‘Synaesthesia’ expounds on the dub-heavy sounds heard in the previous track, a theme that is, through the heavy, subdivided beats in ‘Livid’ and ‘Green Gusher’, manipulated slowly to bring the soundscape more within the grasps of experimental techno.

With ‘Ascension’, the listener is brought rudely back to consciousness; this track is the amalgamation of everything that’s come before it, yet strangely distorted and warped, reflecting the transitional nature of hypnosis.

BUY or STREAM Mass Manipulation to be under the hypnotic control of Isabelle Rezazadeh. Accompanying the release is an exclusive line of merchandise, which is also available to buy now.

In support of this release, REZZ is embarking on a world tour: tickets are selling out fast and many dates have been added, so be sure to buy yours now, and stay up-to-date with all future announcements via her socials.

Angel investors purchase controlling stake in SoundCloud for $150 million

Angel investors ile ilgili görsel sonucu

As anyone even moderately attuned to recent news knows, SoundCloud has tread uncertain territory for the past month or so, the longevity of the music streaming service was called into question once reports surfaced that the platform only possessed enough cash flow to stay afloat for a brief fifty-day period.

While the extent of Chance the Rapper’s involvement in SoundCloud’s salvation remains vague, a recent report from Music Business Worldwidereveals that a pair of investors are said to have purchased a controlling stake in the service for $150-160 million at a $300 million valuation. The news is unsurprising considering the company’s recent struggles, but those who’ve followed the site will remember it was valued around $1 billion and $700 million as recently as 2014 and 2016 respectivey.

The two investors joined in SoundCloud’s preservation initiative are rumored to be The Raine Group and Temasek Holdings. Together, both companies own more than half of SoundCloud’s available equity.

The shape that the future of SoundCloud will take continues to remain uncertain, but nevertheless, artists can rest assured that their music won’t be disappearing anytime soon.

Giraffage Releases Single “Slowly” & Announces New Album

San Francisco producer Giraffage announces his debut album, Too Real, slated for release October 20 via Counter Records. In celebration, he shares his dazzling new track from the project, “Slowly” featuring New York-based producer Matosic.

Download “Slowly”

Created over the span of two years and recorded entirely in his bedroom in San Francisco, the album chronicles the producers personal journey of self healing, with each song representing a different period in his life. It’s lined with his unique blend of kaleidoscopic beats, dreamy synth-pop and R&B melodies, and features artists Japanese Breakfast, Body Language‘s Angelica Bess and more.

It’s available for pre-order now here. In addition, he will jumping on the road across North America for his 30-date Too Real Tour that kicks off on October 25th in Washington, DC and wraps on December 14th in Atlanta. Tickets go on sale this Friday, August 4th here.

The son of Taiwanese immigrants, Giraffage thrust himself into music at an early age, a stark deviation from his cultural expectations. He quickly skyrocketed from just being a household name amongst blogs to playing some the world’s biggest music festivals with his signature remixes of R&B favorites that exploded online.

In 2014, he released his breakout project by revamping The-Dream‘s Love/Hate in its entirety and it quickly solidified his position as one of the most promising young producers in the game. He followed it up with his acclaimed NO REASON EP later that year and most recently his collaboration on “Bring Me Your Love with Thea that has amassed millions of plays online.

“‘Slowly’ was one of the first songs I wrote for the new album. I spent a lot of time writing and scrapping various other songs/ideas but ‘Slowly’ was the first one to click and in turn it helped inform the rest of the album. This is the first time Ive worked extensively with vocalists and I think that collaborative aspect led to some of the best music Ive ever written. This album was written from 2015 – 2017 during a dark period of my life. So finally finishing it was a rather cathartic experience and Im excited for what the future may hold. – GIRAFFAGE

SWACQ “Love” Receives Special Edit by Nicky Romero

If you’re unable to make it to your favorite festival this summer but still want to feel like you’re in the middle of the crowd at the main stage, look no further than SWACQ‘s latest release “Love,” which was given a special edit by Nicky Romero.

Close your eyes as the cinematic instrumentals and driving bassline open track and feel your anticipation build as the melodies grow more frenzied behind the groovy vocal interlude, finally culminating in a massive drop that you can feel reverberating in your chest as your body starts to pulse to the beats.

Download “Love”

Newcomer SWACQ demonstrates a talent for creating immersive, electrifying tracks that are guaranteed to start a party and get the crowd riled up during a live set. Nicky Romero‘s premiere of “Love” at Ultra Korea is a solid credit to their potential, as the Protocol Recordings label boss specializes in bringing up the best and brightest new talent.

SWACQ has created a personal brand that thrives on their energetic, forward-thinking music. To their fans, SWACQ transcends music alone; it has evolved into a lifestyle fueled by fun vibes and danceable beats. With hyper-modern production skills and a knack for tunes reminiscent of dance music’s progressive and big room house heyday, SWACQ combines the contemporary and the nostalgic for a sound that will appeal to both new and elitist electronic fans. His dynamic producing ability is demonstrated by the range in his music as he crushes everything from trap-influenced electro bass to festival anthems such as “Love.”  As a new member of the Protocol family and more releases coming on Don Diablo‘s Hexagon and Tiesto‘s Musical Freedom record labels, SWACQ has nothing but a bright future ahead of him. Look for this up-and-comer to be cranking out more epic tracks like “Love” very soon.
