Steve Angello Drops “Act I – Genesis” + Album Coming Soon

A long-standing icon in the dance world, Grammy-nominated and multi-platinum selling DJ/producer Steve Angello returns with two brand new songs “Breaking Kind” and “Rejoice”. They’re the first of several songs that will be released monthly from his upcoming album, Almost Human, out later this year via Kobalt.

Download Act 1 – Genesis

Sonically the songs are a stark turn for the producer. They’re highly emotive – “Rejoice” features a powerful sermon by world renowned preacher, T.D. Jakes (called “America’s Best Preacher” by Time Magazine and “One of the Nation’s Most Influential & Mesmerizing Preachers” by The New York Times), who deeply impacted Steve’s own life. The staggering track, “Breaking Kind”, features Paul Meany, the lead singer and keyboardist for the alternative Grammy-nominated rock band Mutemath and maps out Steve’s wide emotional and skill range. These two tracks make up the album’s first installment, Act I – Genesis.

The album will be released in three parts signifying different stages of his life: Act I – GenesisAct ll – Inferno, and Act lll – Paradiso. After feeling disillusioned by his craft and a recent spiritual awakening, Angello decided to reinvent his live performances by creating the three acts, each embodying its own universe, and providing an alternative way to ingest music. This desire to stray from the norm led him to the create “Rejoice”, which in turn inspired the rest of the album. The project as a whole will showcase his own personal and sonic evolution. Fans will be able to receive the songs automatically each month through his streaming subscription on Spotify here:

This follows his 2016 debut solo album Wild Youth of which he released on his own SIZE Recordsand debuted #1 on the iTunes Dance chart in over 42 countries. The highly personal album showcased Steve’s undeniable skill. In addition, he personally created a collection of physical and virtual art and fashion pieces that were showcased throughout the campaign and culminated in a gallery exhibit during New York Fashion Week. Since the release, Steve has headlined some of the biggest festivals across the globe and continued to grow his striking live performances.

Mike Hawkins Goes “Undercover” with New Single

If Mike Hawkins isn’t regarded as one of the most adaptable dance music acts of today, we’ll eat our hats with a truckload of cayenne pepper. Since giving rise to his own VAYPOR label, the multi-talented DJ, producer and label owner has emerged with some of the most avant-garde and hottest records of 2017 and his new single, ‘Undercover’, is the cream of the crop.

Immersed in intricate rhythms, lacing synths and brilliantly hued vocals, ‘Undercover’ is as exciting and addictive as the secret love affair it portrays. Intimate and warm, it gets up close right away and leaves listeners reeling for more as they lick their lips to taste the track’s ambrosial atmosphere again and again.

Mike Hawkins: “I’ve always been a big fan of the really dreamy but strong pop, from Axwell to Robyn to Röyksopp and even some early Trentemøller. ‘Undercover’ is a strong representation of my roots in the sort of sleek, Scandinavian synthpop and perfect for those late sun-kissed summer nights. It’s the total embodiment of a vibe that’s been in me for a very long time, and I’m super happy to be able to release it.”

Prior to his show at the first weekend of Tomorrowland, Mike Hawkins went ‘Undercover’ at the Belgian super festival. Always one to give his fans just that little bit extra, he scurried across the festival grounds to hide a select amount of USB sticks, each of which held a copy of his new track in addition to a document with instructions on how they could win exclusive merchandise.
