August is the island’s busiest month…
Ibiza airports only grow busier despite the fact local officials look to clamp down on certain beachfront parties. The island’s airports saw over 300,000 more visitors from January – August 2017 (5,680,475) as travelled during that same timeframe in 2016 (5,322,949 passengers), a rise of 6.7%.
The rise of travel is in contrast to lower hotel occupancy; however, that could be due to AirBnB and other ‘unauthorized’ rentals.
British and Spanish-mainland visitors continue to be summertime mainstays, with the Dutch market leading in growth. As reported by Diario de Ibiza (via Man in San An), 22.3% more Dutch revelers visited the White Isle vs the same period during 2016. Significant increases from Italy and France were also reported.
Conversely, the number of German visitors continues to decrease. The actual percentage of change from Russian and North American visitors is more difficult to calculate given connecting flights from the Spanish-mainland.
