“WITCHING HOUR,” “H E X” AND “FLYING OCTOPUS”
HEADLINING SHOWS AT RED ROCKS AND THE SHRINE IN LA SOLD OUT
“Released on mau5trap, the eight-track body of work takes the macabre and quasi-narcotic sounds REZZ is known for and pushes it full throttle…for the most part, the spidery thread that takes the listener throughout is grounded in Rezazadeh’s uncanny ability to tread the line between desire and tension. Froggy synths belch on ‘Teleportal,’ a collaboration with Kotek, sharing the stage with complicated fills that tumble like a rickety Jenga tower. ‘The Crazy Ones’ with 13, relies nearly as much on there absence of sounds as the presence of it, inducing shivers with a drop that alternates between head bobbing bursts and muted pulsing bars. Like everything she creates, Certain Kind Of Magic as a whole defies genre, although there are certainly many descriptors you could use to try and convey the sound. Spaced-out, perhaps. Creepy would also work. Just don’t call it techno.”

For the last several weeks electronic music producer REZZ has rolled out several tracks from her new album CERTAIN KIND OF MAGIC with “Witching Hour,” “H E X” and “Flying Octopus.” Today, August 3, the woman, whose fans lovingly refer to her as ‘Space Mom,’ releases the complete 8-track collection on mau5trap.

CERTAIN KIND OF MAGIC–REZZ‘ second artist album following her 2017 Juno Award-Winning debut Mass Manipulation–features collaborations with emerging artists like Deathpact, Kotek, 13 and Fytch and adds to the battery of her unique productions. Brimmed with the innovative singles and collaborations, the album portrays the menacing soundscapes she is known for and truly showcases her forward-thinking and unique mentality. The worldwide critical acclaim from the likes of Billboard (who dubbed her Billboard Dance Breakout Artist of the Year), Mixmag, Dancing Astronaut, and many more is testament to the fact that REZZ has truly become a tastemaker and trendsetter in the industry.
In July REZZ showcased her new body of work at a special event at the Magic Castle in Hollywood, CA. A small group of industry and fans from The Cult of REZZ were privy to a private magic show followed by an exclusive listening of the album. In attendance were The Glitch Mob, DESTRUCTO, TOKiMONSTA and mau5trap artist Rinzen.
Next, fans can expect a hypnotic experience at her live shows for the remainder of the summer and into the fall. Confirmed dates include featured slots on major music festivals such as Shambhala, Electric Zoo and Austin City Limits and sold-out headlining performances at Red Rocks, The Shrine and more. All tour dates follow below:
“She’s Space Mom, the spiral-eyed transporter of souls that brainwashes audiences with 100bpm weirdness. She identifies with the bits that exist between what we know in the universe and what lies beyond our own humanity. She heavily f**ks with magic, aliens, and unsolved mysteries. And her legions of fans, self-identifying as the Cult of REZZ, are happy to be placed under her spell during shows, where she stretches fingers out over the decks while performing, like a shaman transferring energy out into the room.”
