Announces new track ‘The Gift’ featured in the hit BBC Richard Gere drama ‘Mother, Father Son’
Singer / songwriter Nina Schofield is pleased to announce details of a brand new track ‘The Gift’ currently featured as a live performance in the hit BBC Richard Gere drama ‘Mother, Father Son’. A marked progression from her debut album ‘Shapes’, ‘The Gift’ is an impressive showcase of Nina’s striking vocal and distinctive lyrical style.
Speaking of the track she says: “I wrote The Gift to celebrate that feeling you have in a relationship where you know that this person is someone you could spend the rest of you life with. I went back to my roots writing this – just the piano and my voice – this I how I first started writing and it’s where I feel at home. That’s why it was important to keep the song in acoustic form even though it’s a step away from my usual pop style.”
She goes on to add: “The director of ‘Mother, Father, Son’ contacted my manager initially wanting my band and I to appear on the show performing covers but he happened to ask whether we wrote music as he was searching for a song for a wedding scene – it just so happened that I write so I got to work straight away sent it over and he loved it. Before we filmed my parts I was able to watch some scenes unfold from behind the camera involving my song which was amazing – hearing my own music being played whilst these incredible talented and respected actors did their thing was a real pinch me moment.”
Nina Schofield’s star is on the rise. Having laid down the gauntlet with a No.4 iTunes chart hit, nominations for Best Female Artist on both sides of the Atlantic (Best of British Music Awards and Best Female Vocal Artist in the Hollywood Music in Media) and vocals alongside Emma Bunton on the national ad campaign for the Channel 5 show ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ (sharing the bill with the likes of The Black Eyed Peas, Jeff Beck, Gnarls Barkley and Lily Allen). Added to which she co-wrote and co-worked with Oscar, Grammy and Golden Globe winners and nominees with a striking list of names such as Morrisey’s Richard Niles, Gabrielle Aplin’s Tom Wilding and Orbital’s Lloyd Perrin.
Her previous single ‘Imaginary Love’ taken from her highly acclaimed album SHAPES was played on radio stations such as Breeze BBC Radio and many London shows. Top that off with a follow up single ‘My Life’ and a top 10 in the Music Week Commercial Charts; it’s clear to see a recipe for pop success.
‘The Gift’ is available now on all digital platforms and tour dates to be announced very soon.
