With futuristic production courtesy of Marl, ‘Epiphany’ juxtaposes busy percussion and fluttering melodies amidst Eldé’s effortlessly smooth vocals, suggesting that her first release in more than two years has been worth the wait.
“I wrote Epiphany almost two years ago. I’m a very metaphoric writer so my songs always have a generic meaning and a personal outlook. The generic outlook on the song is to remain positive and do what is best for you,no matter the cost because at the end of the day ‘we are more than money’”Eldé explains.
“Epiphany to me was my inner self trying to remain positive at all costs but at the same time tired of trialing and feeling like a failure each and every time with previous projects or ideas. Epiphany was a source of encouragement. It was just what I needed to keep me going, it was a wake up call it made me evaluate worth. So with these meanings against the feel good production, you’re definitely in for a treat.”
Real name Jenieqúa Quamina,Eldé realised her passion for songwriting after finishing third out of 9000 acts in TeenStar UK 2015. She released her debut EP ‘REAL’ via SoundCloud the following year, drawing inspiration from pure, real-life experiences, before following this up with ‘ABOUT US’ in 2018. Her 2019 debut album Metaphoric State of Mind Vol 1 then saw Eldé garner support from both DJ Tiiny and Sian Anderson on Capital Xtra and BBC Radio 1Xtra respectively.
After an extended hiatus, ‘Epiphany’ sees Eldé return stronger than ever.
