16 Ibiza beach clubs have been told “no music, no DJs” by the San José municipal town hall. The announcement comes less than two weeks after an Ibiza council gave local authorities more power over open-air venues.

The powers-that-be in San José already ordered the beach clubs to reduce their noise levels from the current 85db to the lower 65db by the start of next season or face very tough fines

Officials are now asking for all music to be cut until proper paperwork and permits are completed. According to local publication The Ibizan, “ [although] all the clubs in question may have registered with the central island government, the Consell, that is only a small part of the authority and registration they must hold to be a beach club. San José say that the clubs must also gain permission from them as the local council, and that none of them have done so.”

The restrictions are being imposed following a steep increase in the number of music venues lining up on San José’s beach front. According to local officials, this influx has been detrimental to the traditional tourism the island has relied on. Venues owners state they are merely keeping up with demand and don’t want to lose tourism dollars to countries like Croatia.

At the time of posting, the 16 clubs have not been officially confirmed. However, Blue Marlin, Nassau, Cala Bassa Beach Club and Bora Bora are popular destinations in the area.

More details and speculation via the Ibizan.

Separately, Ibiza authorities continue to look into banning alcohol on flights to the White Isle.

In 1976 the actors John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd created The Blues Brothers for the popular American TV show Saturday Night Live. The sketch was so successful that a few years later they took those characters to the big screen. A crazy musical odyssey where the protagonists immersed in the roots soul, rock and blues next to myths like Aretha FranklinJames BrownJohn Lee Hooker and Ray Charles. The Blues Brothers became a classic film and its soundtrack sold millions of copies.

The Original Blues Brothers Band continues to keep that spirit alive, bringing from its reunification in 1988 its show to audiences and festivals all over the world thanks to a group of top musicians amongst which stand out two of the original members of the band: the great Steve Cropper (composer for Otis Redding and Wilson Pickett) and Lou Marini. A mythical band that manages to congregate mass audiences of up to 60,000 people in great magical sessions.

About Vagabundos:
Vagabundos is a party series spawned by Luciano, who felt in part a vagabond, as a world traveler from gig to gig.  It features merry band of musicians led by Luciano and his world traveling musical friends presented in a combination of whimsical upbeat atmosphere with a funky pre-war hobo themed attire.  Initially channeling 19th century vagrant attire, the Vagabundos style is an unusual celebration of a tough luck lifestyle.  Now in it’s 7th year and even though venues have changed, the style essentially remains with key pieces of attire such as hats, multiple layers often incorporating vests, face paint and roses. Musically, the lineups are fully curated by Luciano often featuring his label Cadenza’s most prominent artists but often times rounding out the lineup with upcoming talents and other artists that Luciano respects., Vagabundos, like it’s road-weary musicians, has moved around extensively in recent years starting at Pacha with brief stints at Booom! And Space before returning to Pacha in the summer of 2016.  Away from Ibiza, Vagabundos also has thrown exclusive takeovers most recently a few fully immersive takeovers of Fabrik Madrid.

Eric Prydz Returning to Cafe Mambo

Cafe Mambo

Eric Prydz already has a busy summer schedule planned. And on top of that, he’s now adding on a residency at the famous Cafe Mambo in Ibiza. Before these shows were announced, Prydz was already slated to be playing several festivals around Europe as well as at his weekly residency at Hi Ibiza.

To say Prydz has history with Cafe Mambo would be a massive understatement. He has been playing the Ibiza club for more than a decade and even has a famous set that was partially recorded back from 2006 that can be heard here.

In addition, Prydz even dedicated a track to the beloved club on his most recent album, ‘Opus,’ titled ‘Sunset at Cafe Mambo.” Fresh off his incredible visual experience, EPIC 5.0, Prydz is ready for a massive summer full of shows.

Cafe Mambo tweeted an announcement on Thursday regarding their pre-party that will run weekly every Tuesday starting next week. The tweet included a silhouette of a DJ that is clearly Prydz, with several people responding to the tweet agreeing.
