DIPLO IS THE WORLD’S MOST SHAZAM’D ARTIST
The Mad Decent boss hit over 40 million this year
Shazam has revealed that Diplo is the only artist in the world with more than 40 million Shazams in 2015.
The total figure comprises three of the Mad Decent boss’ projects, with Major Lazer receiving 27 million, followed by Jack Ü on 9.6m and his personal tracks under his solo moniker reaching 4.6m.
This news is the final marker in what’s been a year of domination for Wesley Pentz, scoring chart-topping hits with all three of the above projects, and featured on thecover of the October issue of Mixmag as part of Major Lazer.
Writing about the achievement on Facebook, he joked: “I guess that means no one knows my music or who the F I am since you had to Shazam me 40 million times. You could have just followed me on SoundCloud. It would save you some time. But no seriously, thanks”.
