Headphones That Actually Get You High

You may already think that music makes you happy, but Nervana has taken it to the next level and created headphones that allow you to feel the music like never before. They literally get you high while you listen.

Using low power electric pulses, these headphones cause the brain to release certain neurotransmitters, specifically the ones that make you feel happy, like dopamine, serotonin, and oxytocin, usually caused by physical activity, drugs, or sex.

The Nervana headphones can be plugged in to the Nervana Music Generator or any other regular listening device, and they will release their electric impulses in sync with the beat of the music, making you feel high. You can also switch the headphones to ambient mode, and they will sync up to the sounds around you, making these especially useful for music festivals and concerts.

Many people tried out the headphones at CES 2016, and they received a ton of praise. Nervana, priced at $299, won’t be available until spring, but preorders start this month.

“I felt the electricity go into my arm, and everything was tingling there, but the best moment for me was afterwards when I finished and stood up, I felt like I reached a personal high point. I couldn’t stop smiling or laughing. I was like, ‘Oh wow’. For about five minutes, my happiness level was a 10 out of 10. Then it got foggier, but I was still unusually happy for about an hour.”
