HI-LO unleashes ‘Hypnos’ on Drumcode

HI-LO, the techno alter-ego of Oliver Heldens debuts on Drumcode with a full-force two-tracker ‘Hypnos’. Unbeknown to many, the Dutch future house star has been cultivating a love of techno separate from his mainstage persona. As HI-LO, he’s remixed Nina Kraviz’s ‘Skyscrapers’ and released on Octopus and Filth on Acid, the latter consisting of collaborations with Reinier Zonneveld, T78 and Will Clarke. Over the last 12 months, HI-LO has become the sixth highest-selling Techno artist on Beatport, as well as cemented his place as a top streaming act in the genre.

In recent times Heldens has become a regular supporter of Drumcode’s catalogue via his Heldeep Radio show and DJ sets. Likewise, he’s been on the radar of Adam Beyer since 2019 when the Drumcode boss played his monster cut ‘Poseidon’, which encouraged the young artist to begin sending him demos.

His Drumcode debut ‘Hypnos’ is effective and infectious in equal doses. The title track is led by a catchy bass groove that espouses plenty of personality and is a handy tool for building energy throughout the night. ‘Hera’ is a straight-edged euphoric gem, driven by an uplifting key riff throughout.

About HI-LO
Oliver Heldens’ HI-LO alias is reserved for his deepest and darkest records. His 2020 tracks ‘Zeus’ & ‘Kronos’, landed in the top 10 of the most supported Techno tracks on 1001tracklists in 2020, which was a contributing factor to Oliver being awarded the coveted spot as the #1 most supported dance artist platform wide. His releases inspired by the Greek Gods, like ‘Poseidon’, ‘Athena’, ‘Hades’ and more recently ‘Saw of Olympus’ and the ‘Balearic Mornings’ EP with Dutch techno giant Reinier Zonneveld on Filth on Acid, garnered millions of streams and support from all across the Techno scene and beyond, contributing to HI-LO’s #6 best selling Techno spot of the last year on Beatport. With no signs of slowing down in 2021, HI-LO’s delivered a massive remix for Nina Kraviz’ ‘Skyscrapers’ and his debut EP on Drumcode ‘Hypnos’ which includes the title track plus the dance floor stomper ‘Hera’ that seen further support from the likes of Adam Beyer himself, Dubfire, Joseph Capriati, ANNA, Joris Voorn, Nicole Moudaber, Sam Paganini and many more, proving HI-LO is here to stay as a Techno mainstay for the long haul!
