Irish quartet Let’s Set Sail mesmerise on latest single A Savage Goo!

“…with A Savage Goo we wanted to let the main vocal shine. Harmonically it’s pretty simple, but as more elements are introduced the song builds to a satisfying climax. The lyrics are again very literal and narrative. The song sets the scene of some morning tippling in Amsterdam. The context is light and comical at first, but an unexpected phone call brings a sense of gravitas and mortality to the situation.”

Ambient-electronic quartet Let’s Set Sail continue to mesmerise with the release of their new single A Savage Goo, out now.

A Savage Goo once again combines minimalist folktronica with atmospheric soundscapes and stirring vocals in order to create a sound that is undeniably compelling as a result. Frontman Warren McCarthy’s distinctively gritty vocal style entwines effortlessly with vocalist Marian Hughes’ celestial harmonies, whilst Ian Dunphy‘s ambient electronics compliment pianist Rob Molumby’s skilful musicianship exquisitely.

A Savage Goo is the second single to be released from their upcoming EP Enzo, due for release on 1st October 2021. Each song on the EP refers to a particular location. Talking about A Savage Goo, the band explain, “with A Savage Goo we wanted to let the main vocal shine. Harmonically it’s pretty simple, but as more elements are introduced the song builds to a satisfying climax. The lyrics are again very literal and narrative. The song sets the scene of some morning tippling in Amsterdam. The context is light and comical at first, but an unexpected phone call brings a sense of gravitas and mortality to the situation”.

Let’s Set Sail have been performing in their current form since 2016 and since then, the dreamy quartet have gone from strength to strength. They have received praise from the likes of Hot PressThe Irish TimesNialler9 and The Thin Air to name a few. With A Savage Goo, Let’s Set Sail hope to captivate listeners further with their unique blend of ambient folktronica.
