Born in Devon, raised in Perth, Australia, and now based in Brighton, Kat has been hard at work writing and developing her nostalgic, but fresh sound. Blending relatable lyrics with Pop, R&B and soulful influences, her music is a unique melting pot of sensibility and sass.

Fostering a community of loyal fans and tastemaker support through her independent single releases last year, as Kat unleashes “A Better Time”, things are set to hit the next level.

The lockdown-inspired video embodies Kat’s infectious personality as she reminisces on live pre-Covid. Kat says: “A Better Time is my lockdown anthem. I wrote it about all the long days that rolled into one, all the time spent inside, all the unsureness, sadness and anxiety that came with the lockdowns. This song transports me from being trapped inside my house and mind to my favourite places, and I hope it does the same for you.”

While none of us need reminding of the hellscape of 2020, Kat’s tongue-in-cheek lyricism offers candid, witty insights into what life was like last year. She takes aim at Boris Johnson, bemoans the passing of time, softly sings about missing her parents and laments her sexual frustration as she croons “I miss sunshine, I miss dick, 2020 what a prick.”

Taken from her forthcoming debut EP Checkmate, “A Better Time” is a taste of what’s to come for this exciting rising star. The six-track collection showcases Kat’s ability to shapeshift from raw balladry to disco-inspired bangers and back again. Expect the unexpected as Kat steps into the spotlight in the run up to her EP release next year.
