Nala Debuts on DIRTYBIRD with ‘Psychic Attack’ EP

DIRTYBIRD welcomes Nala to the flock with ‘Psychic Attack’—a double-sided composition that fuses her penchant for indie electro sonics into house.

Per usual, Nala’s voice is the quintessential element in both tracks. The namesake “Psychic Attack” embodies the off-kilter sonics the fledgling artist is known for, manifesting in a toughened house canvas. The weight of its low end fits well with the track’s subject matter, which covers the government and mass media’s manipulation of the mind. Meanwhile, the environmentally oriented “Sun Is Hot” is the deeper cut of the two, taking on loungey atmospherics while hypnotizing listeners with a strong bassline and sharp percussion.

Nala is a prized new member of the DIRTYBIRD family, taken under the wing of label COO Aundy Crenshaw and Claude VonStroke himself after building a strong reputation within the LA underground with strong ties to iconic promoter Lights Down Low. Prior to her move back west, Nala cut her teeth in the Miami club scene—earning the label of a “DJ to Know About” by the Broward Palm Beach New Times. Nala’s music has been supported by Mixmag, Ones To Watch, and Earmilk, while her talents have brought her to Splash House, III Points, Ultra, and beyond.
