Outriders Present revealed line-up details for the third edition of Under The Big Sky Rodeo, Round-up and Music Festival at the breathtaking Big Mountain Ranch in Whitefish, Montana. The event returns with two full days on July 16th and 17th and a July 15th, Friday night rodeo kick-off, featuring special performances from Turnpike Troubadour after recently reuniting after an indefinite hiatus and the dynamic baritoned Paul Cauthen.
Since its debut in 2019, Under The Big Sky has showcased some of the very best and emerging talent in folk, alt-country, bluegrass, and rock music in the heart of one of Montana’s most unspoiled regions of natural wilderness.
Under The Big Sky’s spectacular location just minutes from downtown Whitefish, its 350 acre site of grassy meadows and natural amphitheaters and a backdrop framed by mountain views, meandering streams and railway bridges have made it one of the West’s most unique musical events. Throw in a progressive musical take spanning the spectrum of Americana, a full rough stock rodeo experience, charming trail rides, petting zoos, and a food and beverage program highlighting the best of the local food scene and Under The Big Sky’s singular appeal is clear.
The festival headliners blaze a trail across the musical sounds of the West, from indie rock stars Lord Huron, returning outlaw country icon Cody Jinks, psychedelic soul from Austin’s Black Pumas, Nashville darling Margo Price, the arena filling bluegrass of Trampled by Turtles, rapidly rising pop country crossover Morgan Wade and the irrepressible Hogslop String Band among others. As ever, Under The Big Sky will champion the best of Montana with performances from The Lil Smokies, Hannah King, Michelle Rivers, Emily Clark and more.
2022 will see the expansion of the festival’s picturesque creekside stage area, as well as expanded daily rodeo programming. Led by rodeo icon Duane Kesler, who’s been running rodeos across the west for over 40 years, Under The Big Sky’s rodeo experience will include bareback riding, petting zoo and more. Under The Big Sky is open for all ages to attend, with children under six given free entry
Under The Big Sky’s sustainability efforts will be led by Kilowatt One.
