R&B and Future-Pop Get Cozy on DVBBS’ NERVO Collab ‘Make It Last’

DVBBS recently released “Cozee,” a steamy love-song for bad girls and boys, and today, they’ve put out another slow bedroom burner with NERVO called “Make It Last.”

On the new track, future-pop waves crash over a solid R&B groove. NERVO bring the come-hither vocal game, all low-eyed and suggestive. The official music is cool with sexy ’80s color schemes. DVBBS and NERVO roll around in bed — but not like that, you dirty monster.

“Make It Last” wants you to feel so good, you ‘pon the repeat. It’s out everywhere on Ultra Records. Watch the music video below.

ED SHEERAN’S SHAPE OF YOU IS NOW SPOTIFY’S MOST-STREAMED SONG OF ALL TIME

ED SHEERAN ile ilgili görsel sonucu

Ed Sheeran’s Shape of You is now officially the most-streamed track of all time on Spotify, having overtaken Drake’s One Dance.

Shape Of You, released via Atlantic Records, has 1.318bn plays on Spotify as of today (Sept 22) according to the streaming company.

One Dance currently stands at 1.317bn plays, ahead of another billion streamer – The Chainsmokers’ Closer.

Despite releasing his latest album, Divide, back in March, Sheeran is the most-streamed artist in the world on Spotify right now with over 40m monthly listeners.

He is the second most-streamed artist of all time on the service, with over 10bn plays. (Second only to Drake.)

Using the approximate rule that Spotify’s music rights-holder payout (across free and paid) sits at around $0.005 per stream, that means Sheeran’s catalogue will have generated around $50m for the artist and his music business affiliates on the platform so far.

Globally on Spotify, Ed Sheeran is most popular in Mexico City, where he currently has over 850,000 monthly listeners.

“ED, MYSELF AND JOHNNY NEVER EVEN THOUGHT IT WAS AN ED SHEERAN RECORD – WE JUST THOUGHT IT WAS A GOOD LITTLE POP SONG. BEN AND ED HOWARD [AT ATLANTIC] HEARD SOMETHING DIFFERENT; THAT’S WHY THEY’RE GOOD AT THEIR JOBS!”

STEVE MAC

Shape Of You was released in January.

The track was co-written by Sheeran with Steve Mac and Johnny McDaid. It was produced by Sheeran and Mac.

Atlantic certainly pulled their weight in getting Shape Of You to the level of popularity it enjoys today.

Atlantic UK’s Ben Cook and Ed Howard were instrumental in convincing Sheeran to make the song a lead single.

Speaking in the latest edition of MBW’s World’s Greatest Managers series, Sheeran manager Stuart Camp explained:

“With Shape of You, we were recording drums on a track and Ed said, ‘Oh I wrote this other song earlier, I think I might give it to Rihanna,’ and he played Shape of You.

“To be fair, I was tired and hungry so I wasn’t really listening, but Ben Cook started saying, What the f*ck is this! So you do get those eureka moments.

“[Cook and Howard] said, ‘This has to go on.’”

And Steve Mac, himself interviewed in our World’s Greatest Songwriters series earlier this year, said: “Ed, myself and Johnny never even thought it was an Ed Sheeran record – we just thought it was a good little pop song.

“Ben and Ed Howard [at Atlantic] heard something different; that’s why they’re good at their jobs!”

HARDWELL & KSHMR TEAM UP FOR MAIN STAGE ANTHEM “POWER”

HARDWELL & KSHMR “POWER” ile ilgili görsel sonucu

Over the last few years, Hardwell and KSHMR have remained relatively steadfast in the world of big room EDM production while some of their contemporaries have gotten swept up into the future bass world. Now, the duo are ready to unleash their huge new festival anthem “Power!”

“Power” kicks off with a mild vocal-driven intro before we’re suddenly thrown into an aggressive introduction that paves the way for a banging festival drop – just 30 seconds in. The second half of the song sees some more orchestral elements introduced, plus a lovely piano before the even more aggressive second drop comes in.

Nicky Romero & Teamworx – Champion Sound

Joining forces for the first time, Dutch maestro and Protocol pioneer Nicky Romero has enlisted the skills of Israel-based Progressive House duo Teamworx for the latest single on Protocol Recordings, ‘Champion Sound’.  As grandiose as the title implies, the release is a fast paced, hard-hitting house track that showcases the heavier elements of all involved artists.
“It’s a really amazing feeling when you get to see an artist grow from release-to-release; it’s one of my favorite parts about running a label.  We’ve put out several of Teamworx’s tracks on Protocol over the years and I’m thrilled to finally collaborate with them on this latest record Champion Sound.” – Nicky Romero
‘Champion Sound’ is relentless.  A high energy, fast paced BPM dance track that blasts kick drums and non-stop bass for the first minute, followed by a euphoric, symphonic build-up that evokes listeners emotion before diving deep again, pounding the fast beats home through the rest of the song.
This has been a milestone year for Nicky Romero, celebrating 5 years of growth and success of his Protocol Recordings label.  Nicky is looking forward to celebrating this years’ success of Protocol next month at ADE with a label showcase, taking place at Melkweg in Amsterdam.  Taking pride in spotting, developing and collaborating with new talent Nicky Romero has curated a label boasting only the best in emerging electro and progressive house prodigies.
Having executed a colossal calendar of relentless touring, Nicky has played all across the globe this year. Having recently completed a tour of Asia with stops in Japan, Shanghai and Taipei, he now looks forward to a huge South American tour with Ultra stops in Brasil, Mexico and Road to Ultra Peru and the Secret Garden Music Fest in Ecuador.  2017 has been busy to say the least for the Dutch dance music legend, but he shows no signs of changing pace with non-stop releases through the course of 2017 and beyond.
Teamworx are no strangers to Nicky’s legendary Protocol Recordings, with their first Protocol feature finding itself on the label’s Miami 2016 compilation.  Since then they have found themselves with the electro legend’s support thrice preceding this milestone collaboration, and will perform alongside Nicky at his ‘5 Years of Protocol’ label showcase at ADE in October.  With the influence and support of Nicky Romero and massive artist growth throughout 2017, including a mainstage set at Tomorrowland, the heavy house duo has limitless potential and opportunities to become champions of dance music themselves.

Kölsch ‘1989’ out today – Stream the stunning new album in full

KÖLSCH – 1989 (Kompakt)
Release date: 22nd September 2017

Kölsch returns to Kompakt with the third and final chapter in his autobiographical album trilogy, featuring contributions from Gregor Schwellenbach with the Heritage Orchestra and Norwegian vocalist Aurora.

Stream the album in full on Spotify

For Danish native and much-revered producer/performer Rune Reilly KÖLSCH, Kompakt has proven the perfect home curating his music: with two critically acclaimed albums and a now classic run of solo instalments in the Speicher 12” series, he took his techno craftsmanship to new levels, setting it on a melodic, emotive and even autobiographical course – without losing any of its punch and quirkiness. With new full-length 1989, Kölsch presents the final chapter of an elegant, anthemic album trilogy that started with an exploration of early childhood memories and influences on “1977” – the year of his birth – and continued on “1983”, a vibrant and picturesque journey sound-tracking the year he travelled through Europe aged six.

“With 1989, we have arrived in my early teens”, Kölsch explains, “a difficult time in my life, where I mostly just remember the greyness of it all – grey feelings, grey weather and my own grey face.” Coinciding with the already challenging need to squeeze past the bottleneck of puberty, it was a time of seething family crisis – his parents were divorcing: “I would escape that grey world on my skateboard, listen to my Walkman as I explored the city around me. Music became my savior – the only way to overcome my family’s hard times. I found a soundtrack to my grey life, and suddenly there was color.” It’s why you’ll find several tracks on the album being named “grey” in different languages, and they all share this distinctly “Kölsch-esque” moment of epic melodies breaking through propulsive techno beats like the sun through stormy clouds – a musical twist that’s particularly impressive on album hit single PUSH, first heard on “Speicher 97” (KOM EX 97).1989 also marks Kölsch’s intensified deployment of real-life orchestral sounds and the continuation of his extremely fruitful collab with Gregor Schwellenbach: after contributing to predecessor album “1983”, the Kompakt affiliate, composer and multi- instrumentalist now conducts the Heritage Orchestra for tracks KHAIRO, LIATH (featuring a violin solo by Kate Robinson) and SERJI, the latter of which Schwellenbach co-wrote and co-produced. The 24-person Heritage Orchestra consists of violins, violas, cellos and double basses, adding the sweeping drama and organic, richly layered textures that only real strings can produce – a deeply humane tone that is set with the album’s opening recording of the orchestra tuning its instruments (which incidentally also incorporates a voice recording from 1989 of Rune Reilly’s grandfather Ludwig). Seeing Kölsch’s propensity for vocalist cameos on his albums (Trœls Abrahamsen on “1977”, Tomas Høffding and Waa Industry on “1983”), one shouldn’t be surprised to find beautiful cut IN BOTTLES, which features vocals written and performed by Aurora Aksnes.

1989 is released on 22nd September 2017. To purchase or stream the album in full visit: https://kompaktrecords.lnk.to/1989.
