Ashley Suppa on the inspiration behind the track:

I wrote King about my experience surviving in the digital age. I was lost in the distractions I had created within technology, and it was time to face everything that I had been feeling. It’s difficult to ignore pressure because it has become all we know. With social media, we are at a point where we can choose how others perceive us. Online, we can show the world the best parts of ourselves when in reality, our struggles are what is prominent. It’s a connection at the cost of this sort of disconnect. You can never actually know what someone is going through.

From an early age, Ashley was continually exposed to music by her father, an accomplished guitarist who played nationally with a variety of notable musicians. At age 12, Ashley started studying guitar as her main instrument after enrolling in a local School of Rock program, where she also studied bass and vocal technique and gained essential experience adapting to the nature of live performance. She consequently joined a local youth theatre group, refining her performance skills in lead and ensemble roles in a multitude of stage productions. When Ashley was 15, she started writing and recording her songs on her first laptop. Quickly embracing technology through programs such as Ableton and Logic, Ashley began to create her own demos.

Ashley credits artists like David Bowie, Lady Gaga, The 1975, Tyler the Creator, Dua Lipa, and Bruno Mars as major influences in her songwriting. She aspires to write songs that reflect the complexity of personal experiences, feelings and perspectives and hopes that her songs empower people of all ages to think deeper about their relationships and interactions with the world around us.

Outside of music, fashion is also one of Ashley’s passions and she equates it to songwriting, both being ultimate forms of self-expression. She is often experimenting with her attire choices to encourage authenticity and inspiration to both herself and others. Ashley believes in equality above everything else, stating that it is our job to stand up for those who are being mistreated and to spread the virtues of peace, compassion, and acceptance.

Ashley’s first single ‘Trouble’ has received stellar reviews in publications such as Vents Magazine, Hollywood Digest and has been played on over 3500 radio stations worldwide, with over a million listens on TikTok.

Ashley’s 7-track debut EP is slated for release on August 13th
