Whipped Cream Drops New EP On NEST

whipped cream persistence ep

Whipped Cream – Persistence EP – Whipped Cream has linked up with Nest for an EP telling a story of self-awareness and untiring persistence. The three-track Persistence EP sees her focus on refining the distinct hues of her production, with each track embodying a state of mind that either spurs her artistry, or holds her back. The A-side ‘Ignorant‘ is unforgiving and angry, while the B-side ‘Selfish‘ is nonchalant and eerie. According to her, the project embodies an entire culture of impedance faced by young artists today.

A-Trak was initially against Kanye West sampling Daft Punk for ‘Stronger’

A-Trak ile ilgili görsel sonucu

September 11, 2017 marked the ten-year anniversary of one of Kanye West’s best albums, Graduation. The title track on the album has quite an interesting back-story to it — as shared by Fool’s Gold Recordingshead honcho A-Trak in a recent interview with Billboard.

Back then, A-Trak was much more involved in DJing rather than producing music, as he was also Kanye’s tour DJ. In fact, A-Trak takes credit for introducing Kanye to Daft Punk’s original track, ‘Harder Better Faster Stronger,’ which the rapper would then go on to remix and rebrand as his Grammy-winning single.

Initially, A-Trak was “against the idea” as he felt it might come across as “cheap” to sample “such a big international hit.” However, after hearing how much Kanye had “flipped” the track in the process of turning it into a “futuristic Hip-Hop” track, the producer put aside his reservations and acknowledged what would become one of the decade’s most recognizable hip-hop tracks.

The producer further goes on to acknowledge that part that Graduationplayed in “breaking down the barriers” that genres of the time faced, and how it was a “cross-pollination of genres.”

ZHU unveils music video for Nero collab, ‘Dreams,’ announces San Francisco NYE Blacklizt event

The NSFW quality of ZHU & Nero’s music video for their collaboration, “Dreams,” has managed to match — and perhaps exceed — the track’s ominous tone.

The music video for the track aligns with the single’s dark tone, showing piles of unclothed human bodies stacked in piles, or alternatively, suspended in air, rising and falling in sync with the song’s slight builds and drops. An eerie production, the Dreams music video remains in ZHU’s shadowy wheelhouse.

After witnessing inaugural success in New York, ZHU’s Blacklizt party has another destination on its radar for New Year’s Eve. The Blacklizt bash will descend upon San Francisco, hosting sinister drops in time for the 2018 ball drop. The NYE event will kick off at 1015 Folsom at 10 PM on Sunday, December 31st, extending until 4 AM on Monday, January 1st. Those interested in ringing in the new year to the tune of ZHU may purchase tickets to the event here.

These are the winners for the inaugural Electronic Music Awards

Item Imageelectronic music awards 2017 ile ilgili görsel sonucu

On Thursday, September 21, Los Angeles played host to the first-ever Electronic Music Awards. Taking place in Willow Studios, in the Arts District of Downtown LA, the event was touted as something of an ‘anti-awards show.’ There were no speeches, no celebrity monologues, no red carpet. Rather, the event was meant to embody the spirit of dance music itself: fun, light-hearted, and community-based.

As such, the actual event was more akin to a music festival than a traditional awards ceremony. Three stages pervaded the venue, playing host to electronic legends like Moby, Orbital, and Paul Oakenfold, as well as newer stars like Illenium, Autograf, and Kidnap Kid. There was an even an area dedicated specifically to Detroit, providing a platform for veterans like Juan Atkins and Robert Hood (as Floorplan) to perform.

While 1,800 attendees flooded the physical venue, the entire event was live streamed via Twitter to a global audience. Part of the broadcast, including Moby’s set, was streamed in 360 with the intention of releasing select VR recordings at a later date.

As for the actual awards, Bonobo took home a big win for ‘Album of the Year’ with Migration, while Eric Prydz was named ‘DJ of the Year.’ Cashmere Cat netted ‘Producer of the Year,’ while Alison Wonderland was awarded ‘New Artist of the Year.’ Moby was awarded the Lifetime Achievement award, while Juan Atkins received the Innovation Award.

Here are the complete winners for the inaugural Electronic Music Awards:

Bonobo – Migration (Album of the Year)
Eric Prydz (DJ of the Year)
Major Lazer + Bieber – Cold Water (Single of the Year)
Rufus Du Sol – Innerbloom (Sasha Remix) (Record of the Year)
Rufus Du Sol (Live Show of the Year)
Flume – Say It (Illenium Remix) (Remix of the Year)
Electric Daisy Carnival (Festival of the Year)
Alison Wonderland (New Artist of the Year)
Cashmere Cat (Producer of the Year)

The Prodigy Announces New Single Coming This Year, New Album To Be Released In 2018

Good news has arrived for all fans of The Prodigy. The band recently announced via social media that they are dropping a new tune before the end of the year, along with a new album that will come in 2018.

The announcement, which unfortunately doesn’t get into details about specific release dates, has been clearly well received by their followers. In just a few hours it gathered nearly 17,000 likes and was retweeted more than 600 times.

A little over a year ago, band leader Liam Howlett stated in an interview with British magazine NME that the group was going to focus only on releasing EPs, not being interested in creating albums anymore.

We want to get to the point where we release EPs instead of albums. We’re not really bothered about releasing albums anymore. […] The whole process just takes too long.

Fortunately for us, it seems that the Godfathers of Rave have changed their mind about this. They just signed a new deal with music publishing company BMG Rights Management to record and release an album in 2018. This will be the band’s seventh studio album, following The Day Is My Enemy, which came out in 2015.

The Prodigy started their road into electronic music back in 1990. With sales of more than 30 millions records worldwide, they are considered the creators of the Big Beat genre. We certainly hope the new album gives us more of those sounds.

You can check one of their all-time classics, Out of Space, below.

Tchami and Malaa team up for 11-stop ‘No Redemption’ North American tour

Undoubtedly leading the current revival of French house tastemaking comes two producers who are quite literally writing the trends in deep pulsating, bass forward house music. Today Tchami took to Twitter today to announce to fans the “No Redemption” North American tour alongside enigmatic house producer and fellow CONFESSION confidant, Malaa to cap off 2017.

The 11-city roll out will grace major Canadian markets Toronto and Montreal, while crossing the U.S. with the remainder of stops — with Las Vegas, Brooklyn, Miami and Chicago in the duo’s crosshairs. The “No Redemption” road stretch is pairing the dark, deep, and wildly unpredictable turns of Malaa with the symbolic religious sacraments of Tchami as he takes his constituents to church.

Pre-sale tickets are available now, using the code “SUMMER99.”
