On the song, and its involvement in this season of Bridgerton, Jessica Apperson, Co-Director of “Dancing On My Own” music video comments “We had a lot of fun filming this music video, heavily leaning into the song title and going for something really playful. The video was shot just before we all saw how the song was used in Bridgerton, so it was interesting to see how well it worked in that context compared to what we captured. In the end, I think we all accomplished what we set out to do, creating something that sparks joy and will make VSQ fans wanna dance!”
Amanda Lo, Vitamin String Quartet violinist includes, “As we find ourselves loudly emerging from a time of endless isolation, being able to connect and create joyful art with my colleagues in Vitamin String Quartet is such a gift. The process of recording and filming “Dancing On My Own” feels like an expression of this sentiment, an opportunity to be light, effortless, and somewhat carefree. I’m excited to see where the path leads for my wonderful VSQ collective family, as we continue to place our work on an increasingly public stage, like Netflix’s Bridgerton!“
Aside from their classical renditions of Nirvana & Robyn being used in the latest Netflix release, Vitamin String Quartet recently announced their latest album, VSQ Performs the Hits of 2022 Vol 2 via Vitamin Records. The new release features classical renditions of some of the biggest pop hits from the past year, including “Industry Baby” (Lil Nas X), “Bad Habits” (Ed Sheeran), and “good 4 u” (Olivia Rodrigo). The first single from the album, “Easy On Me” (Adele), was released along with a stirring music video featuring Genevieve Carson of the LA Contemporary Dance Company.
Formed in 1999, Vitamin String Quartet has popularized classical music by merging modern hits with a classical edge to it. The stringed quartet has shown their adaptability to all genres of music, while bringing in a classical interpretation featuring stringed instruments such as violins, viola, and a cello.
The launch of Netflix original show, Bridgerton, in 2020 brought the quartet to the forefront of pop culture, as their versions of “thank u, next,” “Girls Like You,” and “In My Blood” were featured throughout the first season. VSQ quickly was put under the spotlight and became a fan-favorite of Bridgerton enthusiasts. Since then, the ensemble has reached over 1.5 billion streams worldwide, been featured on Billboard’s charts seven times, and was nominated for a Libera Award in 2021 and 2022. With over 300 releases from artists such as Cardi B, Björk, and Studio Ghibli, Vitamin String Quartet is winning the hearts and ears of fans across the globe and creating a name for themselves as one of the most popular string ensembles in the world.
