Greek avant Garde composer Yorgos Dousos has unveiled his latest single Marisha.
The song follows title track LUPUS (Love Under Pain Upon Suffering), released last month, as he gears up for the release of the full album on 29th October.
Marisha encapsulates the work of Yorgos perfectly as he incorporates traditional greek folk and jazz into immersive ambient electronica, to create an otherworldly sound.
Yorgos Dousos is a Greek Multi-instrumentalist and composer based in Athens, Greece. Working in and creating music for many years, Dousos is a founding member of several projects, including prog-folk group Darnakes and the Balkan jazz band Local Heroes.
Despite initially cultivating a background in classical flute and Greek folk clarinet, his immersion in a wide range of disciplines and genres inspired Dousos to create a sound straddling the line between classical and experimental.
Having launched his solo work through the release of the debut album Serres in 2021, Dousos continues to explore introspective and expressive soundscapes on his latest cut, LUPUS (Love Under Pain Upon Suffering).
LUPUS is a dramatic, reflective piece of art. The album weaves haunting melodies, evocative textures, deep bass layers, and intricate electronic loops into a cohesive sonic journey. With the addition of the drumming of Sotiris Mavronasios, Dousos’ distinctive approach finds the artist expertly utilising organic flute and clarinet sounds, and combining them with effects pedals, to create an intensely sophisticated orchestral experience.
Marisha is out now, with album LUPUS due for release on 29th October.
