Addy ‘Gucci’

Hailing from West Yorkshire, rising wordsmith Addy is well versed in the art of sonically storming production. Armed with a distinct all-round versatility, if he were to put ‘Alchemist’ at the top of his resumé, nobody could question it. With a string of releases like ‘AUTOMATIC’ and ‘BIRI BIRI’ firmly putting him on the map and before a well-versed group of rap lovers, Addy now delivers a new single ‘Gucci’ along with accompanying visuals sure to pack a punch.

Having created a sound that resembles a transformative potion of UK rap sounds with echoes of grime, master of alchemy has stirred up some magic yet again. By fusing the perfect melodic and upbeat rapping flares with an unfaltering, gutsy flow and seamlessly integrating them, the northern talent’s latest offering lends itself to a summer experience not to be missed.

Crooning over a gritty bassline, Addy strikes the perfect balance of impactful cadence and recite-worthy hooks resulting in a cleverly complex track in wonderfully simple clothing. Drawing inspiration from the early days of UK grime, from BBK to So Solid Crew, the rising artist continues to interlink classic, evergreen rap styles with pleasing, unexpected flips.

Just as his delivery becomes crisper with each new release, his lyricism never fails to match it. With power behind each bar, and a rawness reminiscent of the golden years of UK rap, Addy delves into the pressures of modern living in his latest offering.

“I noticed a lot of people around me are head to toe in designer clothing, but when it comes down to it, do they really have anything to show for it? From there, the hook ‘Gucci made you do it’ was born.” – Addy

Pioneering his own sound out of a mining town in West Yorkshire, he now sets out to prove all of his doubters wrong as he ignites the summer season with this club heater. Mediocre just isn’t in his vocabulary, so you can be sure that with continuous elevation, alongside his no-nonsense mentality, there’s no way he’ll miss.

Bio

West Yorkshire-based artist, Addy, of Gambian descent, began writing at just eleven years old. Showcasing his talent and going bar-for-bar at parties and social events, the rising wordsmith is inspired by early UK grime artists. From the likes of BBK and So Solid Crew, to binge watching old radio sets from Risky Roads, Logan Sama and SBTV, Addy recognised a rawness and originality that he saw reflected in himself.

Seeking artists that he could relate to and creatives from worlds like his own, Addy concluded that he too could take the UK rap scene by storm. Growing up in a mining town in West Yorkshire, Addy was surrounded by rave music rather than rap. Now pioneering his own sound straight out of the North of England, his impactful flow and no-nonsense mentality effortlessly sets him apart. If you’re a fan of artists who bring realness to the table, then he’s a newcomer you won’t want to miss.
