London-hailing, Edinburgh-based artist Adonye B is well-versed in the art of juggling unique skills. With previous support from BBC Radio 6 Introducing and accolades from the UK-based and international songwriting contests, Adonye B has developed a superbly varied catalogue of sonic goodness. Exuding soul-infused fervour in every delivery, superbly countered by his signature pop edge that unequivocally captures his personality; the vocalist now returns to the fold with ‘I’m Your Favourite Coffee – taking his artistry to the next level.
With previous thought-provoking releases like ‘Mama’ and ‘It’s You’ putting his name before a well-versed group of music fans, Adonye B’s limitless and creative mentality is reflected in his discography, as he effortlessly utilises his natural propensity for storytelling and soulful, heartfelt singing. Staying true to his Nigerian roots, and showcasing this with the power and timbre of his vocal, Adonye B harnesses his unique talent for blending contemporary and classic influences in his latest offering.
Spending his days caring for patients as a practising doctor, this versatility is very much reflective of just how multifaceted Adonye B is as an individual. Even with all of this on his plate he somehow found the time to learn 5 languages; some people just seem to have more than 24 hours in a day. Entering a new era, with a sharp focus on creating music that encapsulates and transports you, the multi-talented artist now envisions a multitude of creative influences interlocking to create a pure, unadulterated sonic experience.
Adonye B’s lyricism naturally veers towards a stream of consciousness, resembling conversations and battles within himself as he gradually creates a jigsaw of musings. Supported by a superbly rich topline; all in great anticipation of a euphonious chorus, additions of cinematic keys, guitar and tantalising drum patterns add the finishing touches as the creative injects deep contemplation and experience into all of his work.
In ‘I’m Your Favourite Coffee’, I wrote about a love interest admiring me and how empowered that made me feel. I love writing in a cinematic storytelling way and I love that the sounds of this track reflect that too. I can hear this as a versatile song; as a film soundtrack, in contemporary dance choreography, on a driving playlist and of course in a coffee shop! It’s a song about empowerment that straddles themes of autonomy, sexual obsession, and the often-denied self-gratification that comes from being desired. The video, which was shot at the Throat Punch coffee shop in Edinburgh, is a sultry visual representation of these themes and let’s just say that the shop owners were a bit taken aback by some of the scenes!” – Adonye B
