The artist who is renowned for founding the Justin Fashanu Foundation as well as creating The Black Heart Label, a clothing brand designed to promote activism through fashion, has made an immediate impact upon music industry tastemakers. From Hunger TV to Earmilk, Amal’s smooth eclectic brand of music has captured the imagination.
Lean On Me premiered on Clash Magazine who described the Lean On Me as a song that “…bursts with colour…”.
Taking inspiration from the likes of Sade Adu and Alicia Keys, Amal effortlessly blends Afro-pop and contemporary R&B to create a smooth, upbeat summer-ready soundscapes. Lean On Me perfectly encapsulates Amal’s take on the genre as grooving beats set the tone and are accented by Amal’s warm, intimate vocal seamlessly switching between English and Spanish throughout the chorus.
Lean On Me is the second single in a collection of four to be released on the 1st of every month. The final single will culminate in the release of Amal’s debut EP New Beginnings in September. Amal’s step into music has had an immediate success with press support coming from all over the world ranging from London’s Fortitude Magazine and France’s Iggy Magazine to Namibia’s Nam Radio.
