Vancouver-based singer-songwriter Emmett Jerome returns with his highly anticipated EP, It Ain’t Me, alongside the lead single, “Come Down.” The release is a candid exploration of reflection and resilience, capturing Jerome at a moment of personal and artistic growth. “I was at a stage in my life where I needed to do some fierce self examination,” he explains. “The result is a record that is far more assured in its vulnerability and sense of self.”
Recorded with producer John Raham at Afterlife Studios in Vancouver, the sessions were an analog-infused dream, giving Jerome and his band the space to stretch out and explore the emotional depths of each song. “Come Down” is a standout track born from a moment of exhaustion on the road. Written in a BC Ferries parking lot after a grueling stretch of travel, the song balances honesty, grit, and hope. “The song came at a ‘stop the world and let me off’ kind of moment,” Jerome recalls. “It’s the moment when the lights fade, the crowd goes home, and you’re left with yourself. ‘Come Down’ is written for the musicians and creators out there who, even when feeling lost in the fringes of their artistic pursuits, find a way to stay high and keep chasing that light at the end of the tunnel.”
It Ain’t Me is both a continuation and a leap forward from Jerome’s previous work, combining the storytelling of his troubadour roots with more expansive Americana influences.
