Grammy-nominated artist Blxst and South Central L.A. rapper Bino Rideaux today released Sixtape 3, the third installment in their highly-praised mixtape series. Out on Red Bull Records/Evgle/Out The Blue/Def Jam, the six-track package features the standout song “Doin Yo Stuff,” capturing the essence of the duo’s soulful melodies in a perfect cap to the summer.
The accompanying tongue in cheek music video sees Blxst and Bino open a women’s gym, where high-energy workouts meet a club-like atmosphere. Infused with the same playful vibes from their beloved “Movie” video, their signature humor and charm shine between the effortless flows.
Blxst shares on Sixtape 3, “You can expect the traditional essence and sonics you would anticipate from the Sixtape series. The sounds that come from the heart of LA.”
Bino adds, “‘Sixtape 3’ should bring you a true Los Angeles experience…no gimmicks and no reaches, just pure intention and vibes.”
Since the first Sixtape in 2019, the projects have collectively earned over 245 million streams with the sequel debuting at #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. Sixtape 3 revisits their shared history in LA, looking back on their rise to success and ahead at the path they’ve paved for the West Coast hip-hop/R&B sound. Having bagged an XXL Award win for “Best New Artist of The Year” Blxst has gone on to reach a new milestone with over 1.5-Billion career streams.
This comes off the back off Blxst’s GRAMMY nominations last year for his collaboration with Kendrick Lamar on the stunning ‘Die Hard’, where he was included as a songwriter collaborator for Kendrick’s “Album of the Year” and “Best Rap Album”.
Interestingly, in the UK on Friday, there will be a street team in Soho handing out CDRs of the mixtape in plastic wallets with paper artwork and a QR code which leads to the single FFM link. The ethos of this to hark back to the origins of the mixtape format and to connect with people in the real world!
