Following the success of their recent album ‘For Real’, Walter Merziger and Arno Kammermeier—better known as Booka Shade—shift gears to reignite their club-focused alias YARUBA. A project first introduced in the mid-2010s and best known for the underground hit ‘Black Cow’, YARUBA now returns with ‘EP Three’, a release that continues the duo’s legacy of dancefloor innovation with a renewed creative spark.
With their main Booka Shade project taking a brief pause following their latest album, remix project and EU tour, ‘EP Three’ sees the pair revisit and evolve a sound that first took shape nearly ten years ago. The YARUBA alias, originally conceived as an outlet for more groove-driven, club-ready productions, now finds new life with two powerful tracks that balance raw energy and slick production.
The two-tracker features ‘Get Funky, Henri’, a punchy groove-heavy cut laced with warped vocals and funk motifs, and ‘In Trancit’, a hypnotic roller that builds on layered rhythms and entrancing synth work. Together, they capture the raw, kinetic energy that defined YARUBA’s early output, while hinting at the new sonic directions the project may explore. Released via their label Blaufield Music, ‘EP Three’ marks the next chapter in Booka Shade’s multifaceted career—bridging the past and present with music made for movement.
