Castle Frank Shares New Single “Just Kids”

Castle Frank is a Toronto based recording artist. The brainchild of Max Bergé, his sound combines buzzing synths and heavy drum machines with singer-songwriter influences, skittering the edges between indie rock and synth pop.

New single, “Just Kids,” was inspired by his experience using online casual dating apps. Bergé came to the realization that you don’t need to fill a void in yourself by finding validation from others. He wanted the song to be self aware, but still keep the overall vibe lighthearted and fun. The production represents that feeling with its mid tempo dance beat and bright and buzzy synths.

The song was co-written with Nixon Boyd, a Toronto producer and one of the principal songwriters in Hollerado. When Bergé and Boyd wrote this song, Bergé was living inside the back closet of the guitar shop he worked in and the vocals were recorded in the basement of that store.

The video was directed by Roger Galvez, who has directed multiple videos for Born RuffiansBergé wanted the video to capture the carefree energy of the song so the video was shot in a single take as the camera floats through a karaoke bar taking the viewer from room to room.
