Cork-based artist M’ADAM, the moniker of songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Adam O’Donovan, will release his seventh single of the year, “You Get Me”, on July 25th. A gentle but resonant send-off, this track serves as the final release before his sophomore album Before We Die, which will be available digitally on August 29th, while vinyl heads can access the album early on July 25th.
In his own words, M’ADAM describes “You Get Me” as “an end credits style song which focuses on appreciating what we have at the present moment, and connections we have with the people we love” After months of singles that have wrestled with crisis, grief, and quiet chaos, this track draws a breath, allowing a little light to pour through the cracks.
While “You Get Me” shifts tonally, it’s still true to M’ADAM’s commitment to emotional honesty. It’s a song less about answers and more about presence – not a resolution, but a recognition of what’s worth holding onto.
Like many of M’ADAM’s 2025 releases, the track was produced by acclaimed Cork producer Kealan Kenny, known for his textured, understated production style. Kenny’s work – which has helped shape records by Pa Sheehy (Walking on Cars), Allie Sherlock and others – continues to offer a soft landing for the emotional intensity at the core of M’ADAM’s music.
This single caps off a steady release schedule that’s seen M’ADAM drop a new track every month since January — an ambitious and focused project that has laid the groundwork for Before We Die, due to be M’ADAM’s most expansive and thematically urgent work to date. Where his 2023 debut Horse Food Budget 1984 explored self-motivation and survival through the lens of indie-folk experimentation, this new record casts its gaze outward – at environmental collapse, interpersonal fragility, and the weight of simply existing in the world as it is.
M’ADAM’s music consistently tackles large themes without self-importance – whether addressing mental health, communication breakdown, climate dread or loss, there’s always a human thread, grounded in real experience. “You Get Me” is no exception. It leaves the door open, invites you to sit with it, and doesn’t demand more than what you’re ready to give.
About M’ADAM
Adam O’Donovan, known musically as M’ADAM, is a songwriter and musician from Cork, Ireland. Trained in classical piano but long since drawn to original indie songwriting, he began releasing solo music under the M’ADAM moniker in 2019 after years performing with Cork-based acts like Atlantis Fire Department, Cassidy Club, and Rob Carlile.
His 2023 debut album Horse Food Budget 1984 introduced a singular voice in Irish music – blending poetic storytelling with lo-fi textures and thematic weight. With a background in sustainable energy, O’Donovan’s writing often veers into broader global concerns, anchored always by a sense of intimacy and reflection.
His second album Before We Die is due digitally on August 29th, with the vinyl available from July 25th.
For fans of artists like Sufjan Stevens, Phoebe Bridgers, and Conor Oberst – M’ADAM offers something similarly lyrical, but distinctly Irish in tone and perspective.
