The band will be supporting Puma Blue on his North American tour.
Orlando-via-San Diego outfit CRUZA have unveiled their new single ‘Groove Therapy’, out today on Juicebox Recordings (UK) and Terrible Records (US).
Pairing soulful, impassioned vocal melodies with enchanting, downbeat production, ‘Groove Therapy’ finds CRUZA deftly exploring the conflicting emotions attached to a toxic relationship. It follows their July single ‘Indeed’, a track that has been supported by Virgil Abloh and Jamz Supernova on their respective Worldwide FM and BBC Radio 1Xtra shows, with both tracks due to appear on their forthcoming EP.
“‘Groove Therapy’ is a song that I wrote about a previous unhealthy relationship that I was in during college that, due to its self-destructive nature, resembled more of a substance dependency than it did a typical relationship,” CRUZA vocalist Adam Kain explains. “Often I found myself in a state of delusion in which I thought that relationship was the solution for all my problems, when in reality it was the source of my depression and unhappiness.”
Consisting of Adam (vocals), Charity Joy Brown (guitar), and AJ Roth (bass and percussion), CRUZA blend elements of R&B with psychedelic and alternative rock. Releasing music since 2018, it was last year’s single ‘Illusion Of Forever’ that first propelled them into public consciousness, with the group continuing to grow at a steady rate in the months since. They have previously collaborated with Chicago rapper Mick Jenkins.
CRUZA have just been announced as supporting act for Puma Blue’s North American tour, where they will perform along the run of east coast dates, no doubt propelling the band further into music tastemaker consciousness.
Terrible Records have been home to early releases from the likes of Solange and Blood Orange, while Juicebox have garnered a reputation for championing amazing new talent in the UK.
‘Groove Therapy’ is the latest instalment from a band in their ascendancy.
