Dayes Young drops inspiring R&B debut ‘Conflicted’

Dayes Young is the inspiring new project by Christian Lee. The California based songwriter has gone through variations of his own sound and self discovery of himself as an artist, and now arrives with a profound state of assertiveness and vigour. Blending together an eclectic mix of hip-hop music alongside his Southern Alabama roots, he has moved around the US in a journey to re-adapt his music to his surroundings and find a style that fits.

He debuts with the mightily impressive ‘Conflicted’, a smooth and suave track all about facing your fears of mental health and spreading awareness of suicide prevention. It’s got a classic, vintage feel to it with the 90s synth sounds and R&B beats and bass, providing a melancholic soundscape that travels far and wide. Having no trouble in picking out a melody that sticks, the chorus is a real vibrant mover that showcases Dayes Young’s vocal that sits so seamlessly on top of proceedings.

‘Conflicted’ is a stylish and considered debut from Young, and has an upbeat yet chilled feeling to it all at once. This will definitely do one thing, and that’s settle you in for the ride in a song that ebbs and flows with ease. Dayes Young has certainly made a statement with this first release, and there is plenty more to come in 2022 from this exciting new artist.

Speaking on the meaning behind ‘Conflicted’, Dayes explains:

“With my take on hip-hop & r&b (in pop form), “Conflicted” is an upbeat record about being honest with oneself while discovering the feelings for what is either a seasonal fling or something very real. Sexual attraction may be a key element in the outcome.”

“The melody and lyrics came pouring out that drive home. With a cell phone in hand, I hit the voice memo and let it out. The next day at the studio I immediately began putting together the pieces of what is now my debut single “Conflicted”.”
