Demuir returns to Dam Swindle’s Heist Recordings on 4th July 2025 with the ‘New Spirit’ EP, his first solo EP on the label since his 2019 ‘An Artist Thinketh’ EP. Opener ‘Ain’t No Stoppin’ kicks off with a stylish US garage groove that’s packed with rolling funk bass and soulful vocal cries, while ‘New Spirit’ brings early 90s New York vibes with its jazzy riffs and dusty drum funk topped with more velvety vocal samples.
After a stripped-back and deep Dub of the title track comes the loopy delights of ‘No Minions Allowed’, a sun-drenched House cut built around bright pads, a seductive bassline and uplifting, tracky energy. ‘Whatchu Want Is All I Got’ offers pure house heat, fusing dubbed-out grooves and trippy synth motifs to close out this superb five-track EP, which nods heavily to the sounds of Chicago–Demuir’s newly adopted hometown.
Toronto-via-Chicago DJ and producer Demuir is a darling of house music. Active for nearly two decades, the Purveyor Underground label head has released on the likes of Classic Music Company, Kaoz Theory, and Mood Funk Records, with his eclectic blend of house, jackin’, deep and soulful elements into heartfelt and party-starting jams.
Demuir ‘New Spirit’ EP drops via Heist Recordings on 4th July 2025, with ‘Ain’t No Stoppin’ set to drop on June 20th.
