DRAMA Celebrates ‘Gallows’ Five Year Anniversary With First-Ever Limited Vinyl Release

Plus Gallows (Deluxe) Out This Friday, December 3
Includes Bonus Tracks ‘Missing’ and ‘Sweet Summer’

It’s been five years since DRAMA, the Chicago-based, multicultural duo of producer Na’el Shehade and vocalist Via Rosa, first stepped into the limelight, rewriting modern love songs and reshaping dancefloors for the love struck and brokenhearted with the release of their inaugural EP, Gallows in 2016. To date, the EP has amassed over 200 million streams across DSPs. To commemorate this celebratory milestone, today DRAMA announces the release of Gallows on vinyl for the first time ever, now available for pre-order.

Pre-Order ‘Gallows’ on Violet Vinyl Now

DRAMA will repackage the collection of songs from Gallows pressed on a limited number of violet-colored discs that will be accompanied by a digital release that will feature two additional bonus records – ‘Missing’ and a brand new track and music video, ‘Sweet Summer’ out this Friday, December 3.

When DRAMA first introduced Gallows, listeners were immediately infatuated with the duo’s undeniable studio chemistry, captivated by Shehade’s profound ability to produce dreamy synths and woozy beats that complemented Rosa’s vulnerable lyricism. Their music explored the all-too-familiar aching journey of love and loss through the bondage of two unlikely genres: dance and R&B.

The eight track effort resulted in a sound that blends R&B with dance music, sprinkled with funk and bursting with emotion. Named after “Gallows Humor,” the album reflects on the pain of heartbreak, while also giving a nod to the comedy of that same experience.

DRAMA’s thoughts on the release — “To say this project changed our lives is an understatement. It’s hard to believe that it’s been seven years since our first session together. The process of making this body of work was so effortless and free; it was exactly what we both needed during a time in our lives when we were in dying need of change. We’re so grateful for all of our supporters that have been with us since day one, it has been a beautiful ride and we can’t thank you enough.”

The past 12 months have been major for DRAMA, following their collabs with Gorgon City (Nobody + You’ve Done Enough) and ‘I Feel High’ with Poolside with performances at Life Is Beautiful, Lollapalooza, and Outside Lands. Most recently, the duo released a holiday record, ‘First Christmas’ and two previous singles ‘Dark Rain’ and ‘Don’t Hold Back’ that Zane Lowe called “heartbreak and bliss.” Together the duo have notched up over 250 million plays with their romantic, melancholic dance music, producing two EPs, Gallows in 2016 and Lies After Love in 2018, and their debut album Dance Without Me in January 2020.
