Edinburgh duo PELOWSKA releases new single ‘Calton Hill’

Edinburgh-based duo PELOWSKA continue to push boundaries with the release of new single Calton Hill, out now. This is the fourth release to be taken from their debut EP end / start, due for release on 4th December 2025.

PELOWSKA continue to prove themselves as a formidable force to be reckoned with. Calton Hill captures the moment everything changed for vocalist and producer Aneshka Pelowska. “When I walked away from the illusion of safety and chose myself instead,” she elaborates. “Set against Edinburgh’s skyline, it rises from the volcanic heart of Scotland’s capital and the ashes of personal crisis. It’s about standing on the edge of your old life and choosing a new path, knowing there’s no way back. It’s a farewell to deceit and deliberate manipulation, and an embrace of the raw, terrifying yet unapologetic beauty that comes with letting go of what no longer serves us”.

The duo have previously received praise from The ScotsmanThe HeraldGod Is in The TVBBC Introducing Scotland and Amazing Radio‘s Jim Gellatly to name a few, with their previous single Fire being Amazing Radio and Valley 89.5 in Australia’s top trending track recently. Despite boasting only a handful of songs, the duo has already amassed over 200,000 streams across Spotify and YouTube alone. Catch PELOWSKA live at their EP launch on 6th December at Leith Cricket Club in Edinburgh – Tickets

Aneshka (vocals/synths) and Dave Tynan (bass/guitar) had admired each other’s separate musical journeys in other bands for years. When Aneshka moved from Poland, she immersed herself in open-mic nights and sang for a variety of local bands. When an unfortunate accident with a glass of wine destroyed a laptop with several months’ worth of compositions on it, she turned to fellow musician Dave to help her get back on track. Now, the duo write songs that speak about mental health, with resilience running through everything they do. Aneshka is also part of the 3.5% of female music producers in a male-dominated space, and an immigrant who started a band with no school friends, no scene connections, nothing handed over, just the music and a drive to create something real.

Drawing influence from the likes of Massive Attack and Portishead, the trip-hop duo are known for their eclectic use of retro-synths, brooding soundscapes and evocative lyricism. These elements are utilised across the EP to reflect and explore themes of abuse, mental health and empowerment. This is an EP about protecting one’s boundaries and coming out of other side stronger. Aneshka is profoundly honest throughout this collection of songs, sincerely sharing how everything fell apart before it came to life, leaving her homeless, lost in trauma, and confronting the raw reality of depression and PTSD. The EP is ultimately a document of survival and transformation. A journey through chaos; a homecoming to oneself.
