Punk-rock four-piece Femegades return with their latest single, What Is Yours Is Mine.
The track follows on from the successful release of the scuzzy Depleted. Their discordant sound has mesmerised music lovers and tastemakers alike, with platforms such as BBC Introducing Rock, BBC Future Alternative, The Punk Site, PunktuationListen With Monger, Turn Up The Volume and many more supporting the release.
Femegades are a band who aren’t afraid to confront the listener, exploring challenging themes and socially conscious subject matter. In this instance, What Is Yours Is Mine depicts a world where every woman who walks down the street has a price tag. Whether it’s the landlord offering a ‘free’ room, or a random guy asking if you need to make some money, it’s a world where men don’t see women as a fellow human being, instead seeing something they are entitled to.
The band seamlessly wrap powerful lyricism around in-your-face, guitar-laden soundscapes. Melding catchy melodies with soaring sonics, Femegades effortlessly play with elements of alt.rock, grunge and punk, all delivered with a Riot Grrrl spirit.
Comprised of Em (vocals), Emily (bass), Simone (drums) and Tom (guitar), Femegades released the ironically titled Ep, Not All Men, last year to critical acclaim. Gaining support ranging from Clash Magazine and Loud Women to Get In Her Ears and Powerplay Magazine, Femegades passionate approach to rock music made an indelible impression. What Is Your Is Mine is the band’s second single of 2023 and will be quickly followed by another in November, with new music already in the works for early 2024.
What Is Yours Is Mine is out now via Regent Street Records.
