ANNOUNCES HEADLINE SHOW AT DENVER’S ICONIC GLOBE HALL ON 24 JUNE
Ethereal electronic singer, songwriter and producer Fi Sullivan launches her brand new project with the release of her new single ‘Shades of Forest,’ out on 7 April. The track is accompanied by a music video, directed by Maddy Goodhart and filmed in the White River National Forest of Colorado. watch it here.
Fi also announces an EP release 17 June and headline show at Denver’s iconic Globe Hall on 24 June.
Born and based in Denver, Colorado, growing up in an urban environment looking west to the Rocky Mountains, Fi and her soundscapes emerge from augmented and experimental realms, as well as her natural surroundings. Her sound is layered vocals traveling a three octave range mapping subtle bass and pulsing beats – the sweet surreal inspired by the natural world.
Speaking of the track, Fi says, “Shades of Forest is a song for the forest I wander in my dreams – the existing trees I hope never vanish. I synthesised this mosaic while searching the unknown – listening for a breath beneath the earth – feeling the energy of roots underground…“watching the world from under a pine tree.” After having lived in Australia during the bushfires and Colorado during the forest fires, I am fortunate…the forests I roam continue to breathe.”
Upon receiving her degree in computer science and music, Fi embarked on a worldwide journey from Europe and Greenland to Australia and South America as a Thomas J. Watson Fellow exploring and performing at intersections of technology and human vocal continuity – including performances at the Nuuk Nordisk Kulturfestival in Greenland and the Australian National University in Canberra. Always wandering with her sketchbook and microphone in hand, Fi gathered a collage of personal prose and field recordings from her changing environments–seeds for lyrical lines and sonic textures. The spectrum of microclimates and biomes Fi experienced spanning the tundra to the savanna inspired her soundscapes to grow into new spheres of dreamy biomorphism – amplifying her electronic sound strata influenced by classical and jazz.
Following Fall 2021 performances at Denver Westword Music Showcase, TEDx MileHigh, and Globe Hall, Fi headlined and sold out Denver’s Larimer Lounge on New Year’s Eve. The beginning of 2022 has been exciting for the artist with Sofar Sounds performances including Sofar NYC, Sofar Miami, and Sofar Denver. Fi recently opened for German techno marching band MEUTE at AEG’s Gothic Theatre to a sold out 1100 person show. She is now preparing to open for LA based indie electronic duo Forester at Globe Hall and perform at Bonnaroo, headlining the Motherfunk tent.
