Gary Dranow and the Manic Emotions Deliver New Blues Rock Single “Day I Was Born”

This blues rock song is the band’s flagship blues tune and some of Gary Dranow’s best work yet. Unlike most of their songs, “Day I was Born” is a tongue in cheek blues tour de force reminiscent of Stevie Ray Vaugn, Van Morrison, and Eric Clapton.

Listen here:

The song is a look back onto the day Gary was born. He can actually remember that day. The vocals are smooth and soulful and are backed by a beautifully arranged track that features lush strings, keyboard, and a stunning guitar work. The song is warm and comforting as it reflects classic blues and rock traditions and Gary’s life from the start.

“We recorded this one live in the studio, I had a bet with the band that I could play all my solos without repeating a lick, they all paid me $20 when we finished,” quips Gary.

Gary Dranow & the Manic Emotions is a Park City, Utah-based classic rock band making music for the square pegs. After creating successful business endeavors in the world of outdoor sports, bandleader Gary Dranow turned to music to help him cope with bipolar disorder and the effects of a stroke. The result is a genre-defying collection of songs that provide comfort to those who are also walking a difficult path.

A force to be reckoned with, Gary Dranow and The Manic Emotions will be releasing all tracks as singles leading up to an early 2023 release of the full EP Destiny Road. The forthcoming album features the talent of Sherm Tate on bass and vocals, Marty Steinberg and Jethro DeFries on drums, the brilliant Jerry Manfredi on bass and musical direction, and Tommy Mars on keyboards.
