Due for release on 18th September on untitled (recs) and available, TAAHLIAH’s forthcoming album takes its title from the Scottish word for ‘glamour’, specifically in the context of magic and the occult. The initial idea of ‘Gramarye’ was conceived while she was working with the London Contemporary Orchestra in 2023, and it promises to be her most collaborative work yet.
Co-written with long-time friend and collaborator Naafi while in Dundee, ‘2018’ also includes contributions from Dev Hynes and rising electro-pop musician Tsatsamis.
“The song is about that relationship you happen to experience when you’re 19 that leaves you bruised and battered for a disproportionate amount of time afterwards,” TAAHLIAH shared of the single. “The lyrics are so desperate and exposing. I needed a way to capture this very fervent but embryonic time in my life. It’s one of the oldest songs on my new record”.
