“I Wish I Had a Friend” continues the narrative they’ve staged with their string of singles, immersing the dance music scene further into the universe they’ve been creating. On it, the producer and singer-songwriter pairing addresses the loneliness epidemic: high-pitched gang vocals beg for companionship while a pitch-shifting, modulated retro gaming lead lends an air of hope to its gripping bassline drive. It’s a single designed for movement, and perhaps most importantly, to bring the community one step closer together.
Delving into the core tenent fueling the project, Good Knights shares, “Even though Good Knights is still a new project, we’re honestly humbled by how quickly people are connecting to it. From day one, we’ve asked ourselves the same questions with every song: What are we really saying, and why does it matter? We’re not here to release throwaway tracks. This project is meant to hold up a mirror to the world and give language to the things people are feeling but struggle to express. Every song is built with intention and purpose. Our goal is for Good Knights to feel like a moment of relief, a sense of strength, a reminder that someone out there understands what you’re carrying. If our music makes even one person feel less alone, then we’ve done what we set out to do.”
The new single expands upon the narrative of their most recent offering, “I Don’t Like To Drink,” adding a deeper layer to the protagonist’s POV: still alone, still searching, and now confronting the reality of a world where connection feels increasingly conditional. It follows their maiden single, “Ghost,” which surfaced on the Gotta Move label at the end of 2025. It garnered more than 736 thousand streams to date, and feeds into the astronomical breakthrough they’ve been experiencing across their socials, with a combined 13 million views across their channels.
Good Knights is a new endeavor between acclaimed producer and songwriter Aukoustics and lauded songstress Dana Williams. The alt-dance project is armed with full-throttle speed house grooves and infectious, hook-heavy vocals—a weapon locker they utilize to combat the threat of humanity fading into the ether of the digital age. Aukoustics brings an extensive songwriting résumé to the table, with past credits for industry titans from the likes of David Guetta, Galantis, Dolly Parton, and 5 Seconds of Summer. Meanwhile, topliner and songwriter Dana Williams has enjoyed involvement for projects alongside high-profile names, including Kaytranada, Amine, and Rejje Snow.
With “I Wish I Had A Friend,” Good Knights continue carving out a deeply human lane within electronic music—one where intention, vulnerability, and connection coexist with momentum and movement.
