Indie Rock Risers The Slates Unveil Empowering New Anthem ‘What Have You Done?’

Yorkshire’s own The Slates are ready to make waves in the indie rock scene with their latest single, ‘What Have You Done?’. Comprised of four friends, frontman Louis Barnes, guitarist Joe Briggs, bassist Jude Wales, and drummer Zak Oldroyd, The Slates are fueled by their passion for songwriting and their insatiable desire to get crowds bouncing.

In their own words about the track, The Slates shared: “We feel like this song is a huge message to so many people, and we want to share this song with as many people as we possibly can.

Finding yourself and being yourself is so important to everyone and everything, and as a band, we feel like we’re constantly evolving to be better people and to write bigger messages in our songs.”

This latest release follows in the wake of The Slates’ skyrocketing success. The band has garnered attention with airplay on BBC, electrifying performances at prestigious venues like the O2 Academy, and prominent festival slots at YNOT Festival 2022 and Isle Of Wight Festival 2023. Their energetic performances have graced iconic venues across Yorkshire and beyond, leaving audiences craving more. 

The Slates made their mark with the debut EP ‘u wot?’ in late 2022, featuring infectious summer anthems like ‘Hello, Don’t You Know?’ and ‘Shield Your Drink.’ The EP has gained widespread recognition across the UK, surpassing 100,000 streams on various platforms. Notably, after selling out their first headline show in Leeds in September 2022, The Slates are set to solidify their status as a rising force on the scene with their biggest headline show to date at The Key Club later this year.
