Liverpool-based band STR^NGE release the vibrant, genre bending new single ‘Gal Gadot’s Vertigo Overthrow’, taken from their upcoming EP.
Formed by former drummer of The Mysterines, Chrissy with members James, David and Leon, STR^NGE’s unique sound draws inspiration from iconic artists including David Bowie and Talking Heads, creating a musical experience that is both familiar and refreshingly new.
Produced by the renowned Jose Ibanez of The Heavy North, the new single offers a taste of what’s to come from STR^NGE’s upcoming full release, promising a departure from their previous sound as they delve into different styles and experimentations in the studio. Bringing together elements of indie-rock and tongue-in-cheek scuzz-pop, ‘Gal Gadot’s Vertigo Overthrow’ captures the fun, raucous nature of the bands live shows whilst also showcasing keen ear for melodic hooks and witty lyricism.
Packing soaring guitar licks and exuberant, urgent lead vocals over a tight backdrop of live drums and thick bass, the result is a soundscape as comparable to The Fratellis as it is to Gogol Bordello.
Reflecting on the upcoming releases, STR^NGE expressed excitement about the evolution of their sound, stating: “The single is a follow up to their previous EP Let’s Leave the Greyhounds in the Slips and is part of an upcoming EP. We’ve fleshed out our sound and experimented much more in the studio.
The EP itself when it’s released is a departure from our previous sound into different styles which we hope will come across to the listener.”
Having sold-out hometown shows in Liverpool at The Jacaranda and The Kazimier, as well as glowing reviews from outlets like York Calling who praised the band’s debut EP ‘Let’s Leave the Greyhounds in the Slips’ for its innovation and energy, STR^NGE continue to grow, pushing the boundaries of their sound.
