Jack Ellis and The Contraband are delighted to announce the release of their debut single, Sweets.
In just over three minutes of rousing rock music, Sweets encapsulates everything fans can expect from Jack Ellis and The Contraband. Bursting out of the traps with a propellant drum roll and jagged blues-rock guitar, Ellis’ gritty vocal takes centre stage. Swaggering, intense and bittersweet, Sweets undulates, perfectly finding the balance between literate and energetic, uniting seamlessly to form a perfectly crafted rock and roll single.
The band are helmed by Welsh singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jack Ellis who initially began his career as a solo artist. His ability to craft heartfelt, self reflective music laced with elements of blues and rock, caused a stir with tastemakers and music lovers alike. As a result Jack’s sound attracted support from the likes of BBC Introducing, BBC Radio, Radio X, Americana UK, The Revue, Songwriting Magazine and many many more.
Having moved to Normandy, France Jack discovered a dream team of musicians who perfectly compliment his songwriting and stage performance. With a number of studio sessions booked, the band came together to produce their debut single, the exhilarating Sweets.
Sweets will be the first of a collection of singles leading to the release of the band’s debut EP. Jack Ellis and The Contraband already have a packed schedule over the coming months with a number of live shows booked in France throughout August, followed by Italian dates in September and culminating in a visit to the in UK October and November.
