“Make no mistake, katie MAC’s midwestern girl-next-store sensibilities leave plenty of room for edge. The budding pop star leans into sharp lyricism and creates hook-driven songs that are relatable, danceable, and pack an emotional punch. The Kansas native has created her own sound that pairs unique, often left of center production with “strong vocal chops that mark her music with dangerous energy” – The Huffington Post
Also recognized in Earmilk, Girl Au, NMF, Chill Pop, Pop Right Now, and Sad Bops, katie’s vulnerability has proven to be her superpower, blowing her up on Tik Tok in 2021. Her viral video of the song “Not My Ex” expanded her growing audience and continues to grow, sitting at over a million streams on Spotify alone. Along with her own extensive catalog of songs, katie lends her writing superpower to other artists (John Harvie, Brooke Alexx, Caroline Kole and more) both in Nashville and LA. Aside from music, katie is a lover of fashion, makeup (she works with Wet N Wild), fitness, and “pretty much anything girly.”
katie created “Breathing” in Nashville with her friends Kipper and Winter. The idea started with just the hook “I only think about you when I’m breathing”. The group didn’t get to finish the whole song before katie went back to LA, so she then took it and worked on the verses on her own. As a result, “Breathing,” is produced by Kipper Gray and written by katie herself, Winter Wilson and Kipper Gray. Along with katie’s energetic and powerful vocals, “Breathing” is a fierce, heartbreak, sing in the shower pop ballad incorporating a mesmerizing fusion of guitar riffs, captivating samples, pulsating synths, and melodic strings that takes listeners on a sonic adventure that will leave them craving more.
“Breathing is a song I wrote about missing someone and trying desperately to forget about them. I think everyone has that one person that lives in their mind no matter what, and this song was a play on the idea that I really only think about them…all the time. Production wise, I think this song allowed me to showcase my vocals in a way I haven’t done yet and it feels very representative of the releases to come,” katie relates.
katie is currently gearing up for a packed year of releases and is looking forward to letting her audience learn more about who she is as an artist and helping others express their own highs and lows.
