Munich based indie-pop quartet Kytes are poised to announce a brand new release with the arrival of ‘the beat Is on hold’, out 16th July through Frisbee Records.
A tongue-in-cheek, irreverent social commentary on the current climate, the song pokes fun at lockdown stereotypes but still managing to provide a positive outlook for the future. Laced with breezy, scintillating melodies, it is the prefect respite we all need right now.
The band say: “This is a refreshing, danceable and powerful tune. In times where we all are in desperate need of some extra motivation, the track feels even stronger. We were struggling with inspiration for new music. Our tour got postponed twice, we just had released a record shortly before lockdown. So when it came to writing new songs, we had to go down another path. We had to incorporate all these things that happened in the last year. A long break, lockdown, all the things we missed so badly and all the weird hypes like banana bread, home workouts, live streams and so on. Ultimately the song is our call for normality, but in the most positive and uplifting way, we could think of. “
KYTES sold out European tour, a #1 chart position on Hype Machine and more than 50 million streams, is testament to the undeniable talent of Michael Spieler, Timothy Lush, Kerim Öke and Thomas Sedlacek. The band continue to captivate with a clutch of new releases and a European tour starting this summer, including a series of UK dates in January 2022.
Drawing on a myriad of influences ranging from 80s inspired pop, indie and disco, the band are renowned for their peppy-paced songwriting and infectious melodies. They say: “We feel the new music is the perfect next step on our journey into the unknown. It’s a departure from all that is behind us and our approach was to create something new and exciting.”
On February 28th 2020, just a few days before the start of the worldwide pandemic, KYTES celebrated the release of their record “good luck“ – playing three shows on one night and selling more than 1500 tickets.
