Lake Turner’s second single ‘Honeycomb’ with video is out now

Videosphere | Lake Turner

Honeycomb”, the 2nd single from London-based Lake Turner’s acclaimed debut full length “Videosphere” has a nostalgic, melancholic air to it. Much of it’s beauty rests in the way it tugs gently at the heart strings. The single release includes a new edit of “Honeycomb” alongside a beatless ambient version.

To compliment the release, a new, immersive video was created through a collaboration between artists Sam Wiehl and Ana Drucker is a perfect visual companion to “Honeycomb”.

Created using game engine technology (Unreal), Sam worked with Ana’s sculptures which were 3D scanned and became the sets inside Honeycomb’sdystopian future.

Working remotely in the UK and Spain, the worlds were assembled and then captured live through ‘playing’ the Unreal levels before they were edited by Kit Monteith.

“ It was a really fun video to make and build using Unreal. The simple adjusting of the scale of Ana’s sculptures within the landscapes created a whole new world for us to explore” – Sam Wiehl

“The sculptures arise from observing and feeling two great contrasts: the tension between the digital and the material, and the confrontation between the false, the hyper-real and the imaginary” – Ana Drucker

“The next plan is for us to make this work as live, audio visual experience with the relationship between the digital, the physical world and Lake Turner’s live performance” – Sam Wiehl

Sam Wiehl is a UK based artist, live show designer and film-maker focusing on the visualisation of sound and immersive audience experiences.  His collaborations include work with Forest Swords, Zuli, Actress, Vessel, and recently Eli Brown.  He is also visual director of PZYK (Liverpool International Festival of Psychedelia) Recent video Eli Brown:

Ana Drucker is an artist and curator from Mexico City.  Her work explores the limits of reality, from physical/tactile matter and its transformation through virtuality. She works with the concept of technology as a tool to develop hybrid processes that increase, transform, and question the characteristics of matter in relation to what we understand as real and virtual. She is the visual curator at MIRA Festival (Barcelona and Berlin), focused on digital practices of contemporary art.

Andrew Halford aka Lake Turner is a London based musician. He’d previously made music in post-punk and indie groups Great Eskimo Hoax and Trophy Wife. Having been introduced to the Kompakt family by his sometime collaborator Yannis Philippakis of Foals. Lake Turner first appeared on “TOTAL 16”. This was then followed by remixes for Foals, Weval, contributing to Velvet Desert Music Vol. 2 and also released the “Prime Mover EP” on Algebra / Flash Of The Spirit.

His debut full length “Videosphere” is the first time he’s fully articulated his own vision of electronic music.
