Lila Tirando a Violeta has revealed her new album, titled ‘Dream of Snakes’. Listen to lead single ‘New Flesh’
The Ireland-based Uruguayan artist follows up her 2023 collaborative Hyperdub LP ‘Accela’ with Sin Maldita, who runs the Berlin label Unguarded with Dounia. Out 25th April, ‘Dream of Snakes’ will be Lila Tirando a Violeta’s debut on that imprint. The 11-track album includes collaborations with Sideproject, Lighght, Imaabs, Other Island and JQ, plus remixes by G3 and Sueuga.
“Falling in love with the poetic countryside of the Emerald Isle sparked in me a yearning to create music that would move my body as much as my mind”, she said in an Instagram post. “After crafting two concept albums in quick succession, I was eager to record something without any pre-existing narratives or subtext and simply feel the music pulse through my nervous system.”
Expanding on her motivations for the album, Lila Tirando a Violeta said, “I started to feel a strong urge to create music that would inspire me to move around or at least feel the music in my body”, in the album’s Bandcamp description. “I wanted to feel the music coursing through my nervous system, that same adrenaline rush I get when watching a David Cronenberg film”.
