LOOME is the solo project and pseudonym of Suffolk based multi-instrumentalist, producer and writer, Tomas Frankson. Having gained extensive Spotify Editorial playlist support (Peach, Fresh Finds Uk, Alt.Pop) during the global lockdown, markedly with his 2021 single PSYCHO which stretched itself across the globe to Asia, which has gained over 500K listeners to date. 5-tracks of infectious pop songwriting spanning a range of indie-electronic instrumentation and honest, melancholic lyricism, the new EP showcases some of the solo artist’s finest work to date.

Feeling an underlying sadness, the same symptom of a generation that many young adults feel, across the new EP LOOME discusses the pitfalls of growing up in a modern society – from relationships, to living through lock down, to bad advice, all delivered with infectious melodies, and a whimsical charm. The EP’s lead single and highlight ‘Talking To Strangers’ which features guest vocals from fellow up and comer Oktae, is a prime example of Loome’s work. Undeniably catchy and compellingly emotive, the track’s use of bright synths, airy atmospherics and lo-fi beats creates a warming backdrop under the breathy, silky twin vocals of Oktae and LOOME himself. Mixed alongside producer Venjent and then the legendary Mike Hillier (Rag N Bone Man, Genesis, Clean Bandit, Kasabian) at Metropolis Studios, ‘Talking to Strangers’ is a spotless alt-pop track full of musical depth and commercial appeal.

Talking about the single, Loome explains: “Opposites make life so vivid, think ‘love/hate’ or ‘life/death’; they’re emotive by default! When Oktae and I got together to write, we wanted to look at the newest dichotomy of recent history, music festivals versus lockdown.

We wanted to write a song about reconnecting to the world. To bring us back, to re-centre us, to heal from the trauma of it all. To get back to Talking To Strangers for no reason at all other than the joy of it.”

Speaking about the music video, LOOME Shares:

“From there we HAD to make a music video with our talent pal and creative director Millie Grange Bennett and Director Harry Clarke. The music video was filmed at El Dorado Festival which was our first gig back post COVID. The planets aligned and the whole process was just so perfect. The video was shot across the weekend from multiple iPhones and then edited together by Oktae.”

Remaining fiercely independent, LOOME has crashed through the one million stream mark with no signs of deceleration, picking up award nominations and radio plays from BBC introducing along the way. Now back with new material, the solo artist is surely set to gain yet more accolades and take his career to the next level.
