LOYAL REVEAL STUNNING NEW OFFERING, ‘FLOORS’

Brighton based collective LOYAL continue to make impressive inroads into 2022 with the reveal of stunning new offering, Floors.  A sprawling electronic alt-pop cut showcasing LOYAL’s ability to create warehouse ready beats and pair them beautifully with ethereal vocals, the track serves as a stellar taste of what is to come from them for the rest of the year. Returning after a hiatus, the group are set to build upon the sound which saw them pick up acclaim from areas such as Pigeons & Planes, Stereogum and more. Speaking on the release, LOYAL state:

This is a light song in a post conflict world that see’s new beginning and hope.  It was recorded at the same time as Pre Battle, thus giving it the same Juju and feeling. This track also features the amazing swoon guitar talent of Steve Wireman. We Synced many analog synths in real time and recorded passes through endless pedals and FX to create the textures in the song. The bass is live and the drums carefully selected from sessions with Rob Thomas. Again the choir BV’s support the lead to let her know she’s not alone.

More on LOYAL…

LOYAL is a band, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma; but perhaps that’s the key. A Brighton-based collective whose ranks are occasionally swollen by a whole host of auxiliary members – including a five piece choir – to try and understand exactly what it is would be to miss the point. To listen to LOYAL is to enter a movie theatre halfway through the greatest film you have ever seen only to be instantly gripped and confused at the same time.

In terms of sound, you could loosely classify what the group do as post-house; all four-to-the-floor beats and melancholy disco grooves. An understated urgency that bubbles through whatever cinematic avenue the track decides to take off on (and, believe us, they do take off). That framework comes courtesy of the collective’s producers Alex Cowan and Jimmy Day who sample, resample, layer and filter the sound from an old light bulb factory on a quiet Brighton street. “Everything is real,” says Day on a process which is completed with melody and lyrics by Laurence Allen. “Piano, cello, choir, synth. We don’t sit in room with a laptop. We’re striving to make something classic”.
