Molly Healey Redefines the Boundaries of Orchestral Music with Electrifying New Single ‘White Noise’

Taken from her latest LP With the Wind, “White Noise” showcases Healey’s signature Orchestral Dance Music sound—a cinematic fusion of strings, beats, and emotion.

Instrumentalist, composer, and visionary Molly Healey returns with her latest single, “White Noise,” a reimagined and electrifying track from her acclaimed 2019 album Circles. The song is taken from her latest full-length album With the Wind: An Orchestral Dance Music Suite, arriving later this year.

Best known for “bringing the orchestra to the rock show,” Healey, longtime fiddler for the legendary Ozark Mountain Daredevils, has spent the past decade carving a unique space in the indie-folk and electronic landscapes. Her self-described genre, Orchestral Dance Music (ODM), blends the emotive power of strings with the pulse of dance beats, resulting in something both cinematic and visceral.

“ White Noise” embodies this evolution. Deeply personal and sonically immersive, the track builds layers of violin, cello, synth, and voice over propulsive rhythms, evoking artists like Radiohead, Massive Attack, and AURORA, yet entirely Healey’s own. It’s a song about self-loathing and loneliness in the age of technology, balancing dark introspection with an irresistible drive to move.

“White Noise is a song that I’m deeply connected with; the lyrics are personal, the string arrangements are my modus operandi, and the mood comes from my dreamscapes when I close my eyes at night,” says Healey.

The new version of “White Noise” was recorded entirely in Healey’s home studio, with beats and FX by Dave Tough (Belmont University), mixing by Tyler Norris (Ma6io), and mastering by Duncan Ferguson (The Voltage Exchange). An animated music video accompanying the release is also in production, further extending the track’s otherworldly visual and emotional palette.

With ‘With the Wind’, Healey continues to redefine what orchestral music can be in the modern age. The album’s expansive soundscapes move between trance, downtempo, and trip-hop, anchored by her hallmark strings and soulful vocals. It’s a project that only an artist of her range and imagination could bring to life.
