“Mission” hits the listener like a smack in the face from the first pulsating bass note. And there’s good reason for all the power behind that punch. The song is the product of a session with the late, great hit songwriter Busbee, combined with the skillful production from Grammy Nominated producer Jacquire King and the bands own Spencer Thomson.

Tracked at the legendary Sound Emporium studio in Nashville, TN using groundbreaking new technology from Universal Audio, the track brings out the best of all the remarkable talents involved.  Moon Taxi’s blend of classic songwriting mixed with the best of traditional and modern production elements has perhaps never felt as cohesive as it does on “Mission.” To tie it all together, Grammy winning mastering engineer Emily Lazar brings out the full potential of the sonic energy packed into the recording. “Mission” is sure to have a long lifespan as it is both immediately infectious while begging for multiple listens.

Spencer Thomson says of the song, “I’m so proud of the way this came together. Being able to work with people of this caliber who are at the highest level of the recording world is something I’ll never take for granted. I think it is just the sound Moon Taxi needs for this moment and I believe there is a large audience out there who will fall in love with it as well.”

The tour will find Moon Taxi supported by a good friends and Nashville’s premier vinyl disco DJs Sparkle City Disco, as well as Illiterate Light, FuturebirdsOlympic Music, and AFTM on select dates. The national headline Silver Dream tour will take Moon Taxi through the end of summer into the fall hitting venues such as New York City’s famed Webster Hall, The Ogden in Denver, Delmar Hall in St. Louis, and two nights at the brand new 2,200-capacity concert hall The Eastern in Atlanta, Georgia where the run will conclude over the Thanksgiving holiday. Moon Taxi has thrived on the touring circuit for years, bringing their electric performances to Coachella, Austin City Limits, Bonnaroo, and beyond. The band also celebrated a career-defining moment as “Nashville’s own” in October ’17 when they performed at a two night, sold-out run at the famed Ryman Auditorium earning praise from the Tennessean (“Moon Taxi evolves from ‘college project’ to rock stars”). Their music has been embraced as well by brands using their songs for many commercial and TV placements – from JEEP, to Microsoft Surface Pro, McDonald’s, to BMW, along with landmark sporting events including the Olympics, MLB, NFL, and NHL and HBO Sports. Their songs are motivational and energizing, and they have become a “go-to” band for songs that inspire forging ahead.

In January 2021, Moon Taxi released their sixth full-length album, Silver Dream (BMG). The band, who has amassed over 240 million total U.S. streams to date, will be performing songs from the album, including “Say,” “Hometown Heroes,” “Light Up,” “One Step Away,” and “The Beginning” as well as material from their entire catalog.

Rolling Stone observed, “Over the last few years, Nashville’s Moon Taxi have worked their way up from Bonnaroo buzz-band to something approaching Kings of Leon country, playing a pleasingly cross-bred rock – a little indie, a little proggy, kinda poppy.”

NPR’s World Cafe praised the band’s “strong pop sense expressed through the soulful vocals of Trevor Terndrup and an experimental edge that connects it to synth pop and electronic dance music.”

PopMatters said, “Moon Taxi’s offering of optimistic pop rock serves well as an energy and mood booster…”

Moon Taxi is: Trevor Terndrup (vocals, guitarist), Spencer Thomson (lead guitarist and producer), Wes Bailey (keyboardist), Tommy Putnam (bassist) and Tyler Ritter (drummer).

More about Sparkle City Disco:

The duo – Jonas Stein and David Bermudez – formed one fateful, bourbon-filled night at classic Nashville dive Foobar. Jonas, raised on punk and having toured the world playing in rock bands, had a slightly different upbringing than his counterpart David, whose schooling forbade dancing. The two did, however, share the desire to spin classic vinyl disco ’45s, and the pair cut their teeth DJ’ing every Friday night at Foobar until their popularity demanded they take the show on the road.

The duo specialize in filling rooms with the sounds of deep, pre-house disco hits from the ’70s and ’80s, and deck venues out with oversized mirrored balls, hazers, lights and lasers. Their straight-ahead DJ style features all hits and no tricks, and pays homage to the original vinyl tastemakers while honoring the genre of disco. https://facebook.com/SparkleCityDisco

More about Illiterate Light:

Illiterate Light revel in stretching boundaries and upending expectations on their self-titled Atlantic Records debut, mixing soaring indie rock, swirling psychedelia, and atmospheric folk into a captivating blend that at once calls to mind everything from Neil Young and My Morning Jacket to Fleet Foxes and Band of Horses.

Hailed as “a perfect addition to your summertime playlist” by NPR, the band honed in on their distinctive sound and identity over years of relentless touring, earning dates along the way with the likes of Shakey Graves, Rayland Baxter, Mt. Joy, Rainbow Kitten Surprise, and The Head and The Heart in addition to high-profile festival slots at Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Newport Folk, and more. https://www.illiteratelight.com/
